I don't know how you had the strength not to punch him in the face LOL. I know I would have if it were my hubby LOL jk :P . Kudos for not eating the candy. Hopefully he realizes what he is doing and become more aware.

You need to have a serious discussion about what the surgery means for you, mentally and emotionally, and make it very clear to him what you expect from him as a support system. If you are up front, clear and non-confrontational (focus on your feelings and criticize his "behavior" and NOT personal criticism against him) then give him a chance to improve. Then if he is still an ass, elbow to your hearts content. ;)

My fiance also eats lots of crap. He loves fast food. Of course he is solid muscle and hardly any fat. He burns everything he eats.. Lucky ASS! His body fat is like 19 %!!!!!!! I mean really?!

At first I was a little annoyed with him for still eating like that but I came to realize I am in total control of what I do. He can eat crap if he wants to. I can't really get mad at him for it. If I'm tempted then I just look away or go do something else. before I had the surgery I told him how it makes me feel and that I need his support and he really changed how he was with me. He told me if it bothers me to tell him. I honestly think sometimes if you don't spell it out for them they really just don't get it at all.

He does support me and has been pretty awesome in this whole process. So I feel pretty lucky. When I cook healthy meals he eats them and loves it. I guess now its to the point where I'm ok with it all. I even made him Cookies one day.. I guess my views on food have changed.

Your husband needs to know how important this is to you and if it bothers you that he is eating crap in front of you it is not ok at all. The emotional and mental support are just as important as the change in diet. You have to be in a good place with all of it to really be successful.

Good luck :)

My son and mother do me the same way. They had pizza the third day I was sleeved and eat out just about every night. I've tried talking to them and I think my mom gets it. My 14 year old son however couldn't care less about my agony. Fortunate for him he's to young for me to sucker punch.

My husband also eats a bunch of crap, not just in front of me, but everywhere! Plus, he is pretty normal sized, and when he wants to lose a bit of weight, it drops off with little to no effort on his part!

He eats dinner, sometimes a huge dinner, and one hour later he is combing through the fridge and pantry for more to eat.

He thinks he is getting some Easter candy, but it won't be from me. I don't really care about candy anymore and I am more scared of it than anything. I need to just take care of me, but every so often I give him a nagging.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
