Anyone Not Losing Their Hair?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I've read lots of stories about people losing lots of hair...but is there anyone out there who hasn't experienced it? I'm 4.5 months post-op and luckily I've not noticed any. Anyone else?

I haven't!! I have always "shed" a lot, but I asked the guy who does my hair if he has noticed if it's thinned out or seems to be less, and he said no. In fact he thinks I have too much hair! I have a LOT of hair! I know some people's bodies freak out after any surgery, add in that with the dietetary change and the body goes into freak-out mode and it doesn't care about your hair. But not everyone does that. As long as you are getting in your Protein and your Vitamins then you might not lose any.

I'm very curious to know as well. I'm 18 days post-op and scared to death of losing my hair! I knew to expect it but now that it's a reality I'm even more scared. I've had two other major surgeries: open heart and open lateral hysterectomy and didn't lose any hair. I'm really hoping that not everyone experiences Hair loss.< /p>

Wow - lucky you! I started seeing a lot of excess shedding almost immediately post-op, and at 6 months I still think I shed more than than I used to, but it's not as bad. I've always had very plentiful hair though, so nobody noticed but me.

The info pack from my doc stresses the important of Protein in regard to Hair loss. It says if the body has to make a decision of "should we grow hair, or beat the heart?" It will choose "beat the heart" every time. Hair loses. Unless you are very faithful about consuming enough protein. I've heard that some lose it in spite of their best efforts. I fear this. :s BUT....it will always grow back. That's the good news.

I am 2 and a half months post-op and have noticed a bit more shedding than usual, but nothing to be concerned about! I am getting between 60 and 80 grams of Protein each day and I am sure that is helping.

7 months out. I reached my goal last month, still no Hair loss. I was one of those faithful Protein eaters and still am......but i'm very thankful that I have not had the hair loss, although i was expecting it to happen.

I think I got lucky then. My protein intake sucked because I couldn't tolerate supplements and I couldn't eat enough food to get my numbers up to where they should be. If I'd known my protein intake could have caused me to lose my hair, I might have started grazing throughout the day or something. lol

My Dr said its the lack of enough Protein that causes the Hair loss, but I think it also has to do with a person individually. I get well over 80g protein a day ( i use Protein Drinks And the vials of protein at GNC plus any solids I eat are protein), I take all Vitamins including biotin- AND my hair is already thinning. ( I had surgery 12/13/11). I bought the Joan Rivers stuff at Harmons and it helps disguise the problem, for now. I think some of us are just luckier (and younger) then others.

I'm losing a bit more hair than usual, but honestly, if I had to make a choice, I'd rather be bald than obese.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
