frumpynomore got a reaction from Tanickab38 in Will I Ever Be Able To Eat Rice Or Pasta Again?
I had a bougie size 38 and handle pasta and rice just fine. I chew it VERY well though and overcook it so all the swelling is done in the cooking and not in my stomach. I've heard that some people just can't tolerate it after VSG but some do. Good luck!

OH, I AGREE! I found the best one that I absolutely love and have no problem with is Syntrax Nectar. They have about 15 or so different flavors and I had ordered every one of them prior to surgery! I found out real soon that the best ones are the Chocolate Truffle, Vanilla Bean Torte and the Strawberry Mousse and there is no smell. You can use water or milk but I am lactose intolerant now so I use water which tastes just fine. I add about 1 2/3 scoop of the powder with 1 cup water and 1 cup of ice in a blender and it tastes sort of like a shake. Good luck!

I'm experiencing the same thing! I think it's because I have more energy, working out, feeling better about my body image and feeling like I'm "cute and sexy" again when I try to look good!!! Rock that sleeve!!!

I'm 56 lbs down and am noticing a LOT of loose skin! I am a member of a gym and exercise regularly so I'm hoping to firm some of it up....if it doesn't....I'd rather be skinny with loose skin than fat and fluffy!

frumpynomore got a reaction from CVWillis in Can Someone Please Talk Me Out Of It?
I had doubts right up until they took me in to the operating room. I even went through deep depression for about 2 weeks afterwards feeling like I had self mutilated my body. I am 4 months out now and I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made for myself. I had 90 lbs to lose and kept thinking I really didn't need the surgery...I could do it myself like I have all my life. I was a yo-yo dieter, up and down, up and down. I would have to work at dieting and exercise so hard only to gain it back again. I would stay thin for awhile and then be fat for years and then get thin again. That's all over now! No more yo-yo dieting!!! There was a reason that you decided to have the surgery...don't forget those reasons. Your fear is controlling you right now. Write down your reasons if you have to so you can keep referring to them every time you have a doubt. This is for you! Don't doubt yourself now...you've come to far. The alternative is to stay overweight and nobody wants that. Stay strong and be convicted in your decision. Good luck...I promise you that you will not regret it!

frumpynomore got a reaction from ShouldBlittler in Gained 10 Lbs This Week
I wish I could tell you what happened but something is VERY wrong! I've never heard of anyone with the VSG gaining 10 lbs in one week! You would have had to of eaten almost every waken moment and eaten nothing but fried foods high in carbs! Are you sure your scale hasn't broken??? I would call your surgeon and ask them. I'm assuming maybe it's water weight and/or the stress you were under but you really should check with your surgeon. Good luck on your journey!

I found out that I didn't need anything at the hospital other than a change of loose clothes to go home in. At home is the critical list. ABSOLUTELY get Unjury UNFLAVORED protein to add to your liquids. Everything does taste different after surgery so the Unflavored is great to have on hand. You must also have protein powders so try some and get it in your cupboards. Syntrax Nectars are real good with no after taste. Also, since you will be on liquids get different flavored broths, jello (which I couldn't stand the sweetness of), SF pudding, and different types of drinks that have no cals, no carbs and some protein. These are just starters and you will add other things as you find what you can and cannot tolerate after surgery. Good luck on your journey!

I had the single incision. There is and was no body pain. The single incision through my belly button didn't even hurt! I'm 3weeks post-op and the only pain I've had is the head hunger and struggling to eat right!

OMG! YOU ARE NOT ALONE! I am post op 9 days (DOS: 12/13/11) and I would eat a cow raw!!! I want so bad to eat something! I'm on clear liquids for 14 days and just dying! I see my doc for post appt today and I'm praying to God that he lets me off two days early to allow puree foods on Christmas day. I believe that most of us that have fought weight have a food addiction. I hear from blogs on this site that the cravings and desires do get better and less frequent. Hang in there....it will all be worth it in the end when we are struttin our thin selves!
