I am beginning the process of financing sleeve surgery in Mexico. I have been approved for surgery by Dr. Aceves. However, I suffer from frequent/re-occuring boils in my armpits and sometimes under my breasts. They never require lancing, nor do I get a fever from their arrival. They take a long time to heal (I haven't found a proven method that works).

Will this prevent me from undergoing surgery?

I have the same problems. But i would get them on my inner thighs sometimes. Right before surgery i got one on my thigh was sooo worried. But i called my surgeon just to let them know and they said as long as you don't have any on your abdomen you are fine! Just let them know before hand if you can, but it shouldn't stop your surgery. I was scared of that too! good luck!

That is something to definitely ask your surgeon. When I've had other surgery, it could not be done when an infection is present. He may have you take an antibiotic. My daughter got one in her armpit TWICE. They had to lance it both times. Painful!

I hope this is the case. I'd like to complete surgery before the end of the year so that I can use the tax credit.

I have this too. There is a name for this condition Hydrentis Suppurativa - That is not the correct spelling but I have battled this for years. Contrary to popular belief, people believe you get this because you are overweight. Not true, my Dad had it and was thin all his life. I just got this strain of "whatever" from him. Being overweight does exacerbate the condition though (friction, sweating etc...) I am a road map of scars from incisions! Anyway, failed the medical clearance for the Lap band back in 2008, had one that had "opened" under my breast. Doc said - "No Way" to surgery, fear of sepsis, too close to laproscopic incision site, fear of infection etc... In retrospect, everything happens for a reason, ya know? Glad not to have the band.

I have it too. The condition is hidradenitis suppertiva. My surgeon knows about it & it did not stop me. I hope that after I lose my weight, the condition can get me covered for plastic surgery!!

I just got a response back from the doctor. It will not prevent me from having the surgery performed! Yay!!!

Great question! I've had a wound near a draining boil, but it never got infected. Yet, of course, it wasn't as serious of a wound as a surgery incision.

What causes this u think? U guys think if we lose weight it'll go away? Isn't it like cellulitis? Last time I got it bad was I'm hospital so worried bout it coming from bacterial issues in hospital.

I think it's supposed to be a sort of acne?

I've got this too and I'm down 125 lbs. Mine *has* gotten better but it hasn't gone away completely. I've got one or 2 right now on the mend & on their way out.

For yall looking for a topical that can help, I've found my rosacea medicine prosacea dabbed onto these spots has really helped me (if they're really painful I'll put a bandaid over it to help keep anything from touching it or rubbing it). From my understanding, prosacea is sulpher based and there's something about the sulpher that helps clear up redness/acne. If you've been to Disney World, you'll notice the Water (like from the showers) smells kind of sulpher-y. My skin always looks fabulous when we're there so put 2 & 2 together and experimented and found the prosacea has worked well for me.

I used to get them (and I was not as heavy then!) and a dermatologist diagosed them by the nickname HIDE. You can go online and see more information. I feel very lucky that my case seemed to be mild and I haven't had a re-emergence in over 10 years (knock on wood).

My first one showed up within a few weeks after having a baby. I have always suspected that i picked it up at the hospital, but the baby (now 19) never got it.

I wanted to bump this up as I have this skin condition as well. I plan to bring it up with my surgeon at the consult, but was wondering what precautions your surgeons or dermatologists may have done prior to surgery. I already take an antibiotic daily, but it only helps the condition not make it go completely away.

I'll be crushed if this disqualifies me. :-(

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
