I haven't tried chicken in a casserole or anything yet... my experience has been smoked chicken breast, but I've tried to use some BBQ Sauce to make it go down easier. I AM able to get seafood down pretty good though... ate about 4 oz of shrimp for lunch today.. I think that's my personal record for anything solid, post surgery smile.gif

Hi Everyone! Just wanted to say hello. I have experimented with some foods over the last week. I had a dinner lecture to go to formwork. I was able toneat a little bit of salad followed by eggplant parm. Delicious. Went down with no problems but I ate slowly. the other day I had half a pancake and was literally stuffed.. Sausage links seem to go down fairly well, but no more than two in a meal. I am so bored with the yogurts and I don't care if I never eat cream Soup again. The weight loss seems so slow to me, but then again, I never exercise. I know I should be exercising, and it is something I am going to start making an effort to do. Hope all is well with everyone else.

I did not exercise all week, and I think this is going to be the big loss week oddly, I'm fitting into clothes I haven't worn in forever!

Geee, great on the seafood, I wish I could, I had a terrible experience with shrimp.

I've been experimenting a lot too, nothing has come back up other then the gross shrimp, I've even eating some Pasta, I know bad, but i was way past my Protein goal so yay, it was good, and i was stuffed after, I wish all the foods we're suppose to eat left me stuffed, I seem to be having an issue with being hungry when i stay away from carbs banghead.gif

Hope everyone has been having a good weekend!

That's great, Panda. Maybe your body is just playing catch-up. I've had to retire 5 pairs of pants, 2 different belts and couple shirts. Even though I've lost less the last 2 weeks than any of the other weeks, I feel like my body has changed more in those weeks than the weeks of the big losses.

Ter, are you off just liquids now or just venturing out on your own? A salad sounds so good to me right now... maybe that's what's for lunch!

Ha... well they were all roughly the same size. What's getting me is how I'm running through belts. I didn't take any inches measurements pre-op, but I can tell by the number of holes I'm going up on my belt that I've lost a lot of inches in my waist. I'm very happy with that :)

Great job Geeewhy! I'm almost at the 50 pound mark! Slacking in the exercise department though. Can't seem to fit it in with a demanding job. But I probably walk a mile or two at work 5 times a week so I think that's why I'm steadily loosing, who knows. How are you doing in that department, any suggestions? I really want a treadmill or elliptical but just can't afford it at the moment.

Unfortunately, I'm no help on the exercise front! I've really been slacking... in fact I probably haven't exercised 5 times since surgery, other than walking my dog twice per day. It's showing too... starting to get flabby, going to have to starting hitting the gym and toning, toning, toning.

Looks like you're doing great! Keep it going!

Trying to fit in taebo vids again. Feels good to get back to exercising! New problem though I seem to be drinking too soon after eating or while eating a couple times, i'm trying to get out of the habit, especially because it might stretch the sleeve right? Seems to be way more of a problem at work. I hate the was everything was so good when I was just at home. Now adding in friends and social eating sucks for my sleeve. I'm going to stop it though my health is more important then being socially accepted!

Keep up the good work Geee 122 wtg!!!!!!

Hello 9/20'ers! We just had our 4 month "surgiversary" and I was wondering how everyone is doing? My loss rate has dropped a little, but I'm still averaging 3-4 lbs per week, so I'm ecstatic about that. Been doing a good bit of walking, and with as soon as I hit 150 lbs down, I am starting the "couch to 5k" regimen. Pretty excited about the future!! How's everyone else?

He Gee and Panda!

Miss you guys. I haven't been very active on this site, but often wonder how everyone is! Things are good here. I just had my four month check up. My doc is thrilled with my progress. He was beaming and said that I looked stunning, beautiful! for the first time in a long time, I truly believed those words. I'm down a little over fifty pounds from my surgery....... And over one hundred pounds from the original bariatric surgery (lap band). I'm now 160 pounds, size 8 and couln't be happier with my results.

I have noticed that around three months post op that My hair started falling out in the shower. My hair girl noticed it, too. Fortunately I had tons of hair to start off with it, so it's not noticeable...... But I notice it. I went to the Vitamin storebtoday and they recommended a couple supplements to take. One of them is Biotin. Oh well, small price to pay for great weight loss results.

I am still drinking one Protein shake a day. I don't exercise at all, but once I get a new job with a descent schedule, I hope that will change.

Hope to hear from everyone and. Hope all is well,

Terri

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
