I had my surgey on June 22 and I am doing very well, as of June 28 I am down 31 pounds including pre-op diet. Just cannot get enough protien or Water in. My surgeons are Dr. Karl Strom and Dr. Joe Barbalinardo. Had the surgey at Bayshore Community Hospital Center for Bariatrics. I don't think I could have found a better group to work with. They are all friendly and took care of all my needs.

Hi, I'm new here and not sure how to post either. I'm from Burlington and have just been approved for the VSG surgery. I am having my surgery on Aug. 28th. Dr. Wasserman, South Jersey Surgical Group will be performing my surgery at Virtua Center for Bariatrics.

I am nervous about the diet changes and I need as much info as I can get. How does everyone handle the menu planning when you still have to prepare meals for your family?

Congrats on getting approved. After a few hiccups with my insurance i am hoping to get a date for surgery on friday at my 5th month visit.

What i have been doing is doubling some of the meals i have been making recently and freezing half of it so that when i am post op my family could just pop it either in the oven, or crockpot (depending on what it is) I have also made my own broths and froze them in 8oz containers. Hope that helps.

Now I am on an unrestricted diet & cleared to eat anything (within reason of course!). It is easier to cook for the family, as I will eat with them, just eat smaller portions.

Last night I cooked pork chops in shake & bake, with instant mashed potatoes & some carrots.

I ate half my pork chop, about 2 forkfuls of mashed potato & 2 forkfuls of carrots.

Tonight I made spaghetti with marinara sauce. I ate a small amount of it... probably just about a cup of it. Then had some deli meat & a small individual bag of almonds.

So most of the time I will eat what the family is eating. But if it is carb heavy I will supplement with some extra Protein.

But I actually enjoy cooking more since I was sleeved, don't know why, but I do!

Thanks for the info. I will get started on planning meals that I can start preparing soon and will freeze well. My grandson, he's sixteen and lives with us, is the one I'm more concerned about. My husband will fix his own meals if he has to. I'll be spending more time on here seeking info now that I've been approved.

I am excited, nervous, scared, anxious all at the same time. I can do this!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
