African American Sleevers

  • Popular Post

Hi All!

I wanted to start a thread for African-American sleevers (no worries I HEART all sleevers from the rainbow). I just thought, no scientific proof, that African-American sleevers may respond to the surgery different than our lovely non-African American sleeved sisters and brothers. I wanted to know if we had the same skin issue, hair problems, and other surgery related issues. Also, how to deal with the culture shock. African-American "soul food" may be something of the past... or not. So I was just looking for a space to voice culture related issues and concens.

PS- I TRULY  ALL SLEEVERS.

OMG I am a Grazer.... I think. I can eat all day. I am 5 weeks post op. I will eat and then feel full and about an hour later be hunger again. Literally my tummy feels empty. Help!!!!!!!

Are you on solid food yet, my dietician said once solid food is primary nutrition is when you will satisfied and fuller longer. My friend who is 7 months post op has lost 90 lbs and said she felt more restriction starting in month 3 than she did in the beginning, so everyone is different. Are you getting enough protein, some people say they feel no hunger this is not true for me, when I started back to the gym like week 3 and was doing 60minutes of cardio, I felt physical hunger not head hunger because I do recognize the difference. I wish I was one of the individuals who never feel hunger. I'm still new officially four weeks today. Stay encouraged, get your protein in. I also here the stomach is still numb during this stage so you may not feel when you are physically full. You will be fine.

How do you get all your protien your suppose to have in, if your stomach will only hold so little?

I drink the majority of my protein to make sure I get it it. Liquids are processed different so you able take in more liquids then actual food.

Hi ladies. I'm new here. I've been lurking for a while now. I had my first appointment with my surgeon yesterday. It went very well. I have to do 3 months of pre-work before my insurance will approve me. I'm excited to start my journey but a little nervous. Hoping I can learn more info here. Thanks for all the insight so far.

Oh, btw, I'm in Baton Rouge, LA. Any Louisiana people here?

Lafayette Louisiana here!

Hey Alone728!!

Hey Louisiana people! I'm glad there are people close to me that I can bounce questions off of. Where are you all getting your surgeries?
