What is the most powerful, gut-exploding laxative I can buy OTC?

Recommended Posts

I wish I had an answer for you but I have the same problem. I am having a hard time going... I am scared because after I had my kids I developed hemorroids and now I am afraid that they will flare if I have to make so much effort to go.

My doctor told me to take citrucel to help me go.. BUT, haven't started it yet...

I've been taking Benefiber, and it doesn't work. At least not on me. Something's gotta be done or I'm going to be calling the plumber and asking to borrow his "snake". (A snake is the tube that they use to clear pipes)

ex lax will always be a best bet. I also tried this tea you can get at a health food store it has like asian writing on the package it is in a green box and called "California Dieters Tea" put one tea bag in a coffee cup of warm Water with a couple sweet n lows. Drink up and make sure that in the next four hours you don't have to go anywhere. Don't drink before you go to bed or you will be awoken a few times with the need to run to the loo.

I used that tea when I was doing an eggs, meat and cheese diet. Talk about getting stopped up.

Benefiber actually made me so much worse! This was while I had the lap band. I actually can eat watermelon and it will work on me. Are there any foods that affect you that way maybe? I know it is miserable! Good luck!

I did the diet where you only drink this strange maple Syrup stuff, can't remember what it was called now. Anyway you had to do a salt 'flush' with 2 teaspoons of salt in 2L Water and drink it all at once (bit tricky with the sleeve but you could try).

Anyway if anything is left in you after that I would worry!! Oh yeah it was called Mastercleanse- and ditto with the stay near a toilet!

Start using Miralax every day. It's not gritty and it mixes in Water or crystal lite, etc. It will help you go every day.

In the mean time, I would try a fleets enema and if it doesn't work, take the bottle it comes in and fill it up with as hot of Water as you can stand.

if you really want to clear things out drink magnesium citrate ( that the stuff the make you drink before a colonoscopy) but I think that may be a little over kill. if its been a few days make sure you take a stool softener with whichever laxative you pick cuz otherwise you will hurt them hemroids!

Intestinal update: For some unknown reason--I went to the bathroom this morning (and lost a pound lol). Thanks for all the suggestions, I'm going to see what I can find today to prevent this from happening again.

I have the opposite problem, but my sister is always stopped up. She has recently been "cured" by taking a daily dose of milk of magnesia. This is also what my surgeon recommended (but I surely don't need it).

Most doctors recommend Miralax. It used to be a prescription but now it's over the counter. It just puts moisture where it needs to go, and it's not a stimulant laxative. It just makes you regular.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
