Whatcha' Eating?

Recommended Posts

No, we dont have lots of the stuff (supplementes and so) that you all have. The Dutch are not really "into" that kind of thing. Also here they cant sell as much over the counter as in the States.

I do have to say, I have an (over) abundance of muscle, so losing some, would not be a problem :lol0:

Last night I had some musshie potatoe and later on soms yogurt again. After 4 "bites" I had to put it away, couldnt even look at it anymore without wanting to belch it up. :cursing:

yeah know the feeling, I get four bites down and that is it. I am doing better getting a 1/2 to 3/4 cup of Soup down. Any watery based soup that I blender I can now eat more than a bit of. Kinda nice. Soup is comforting. Sometimes in the middle of the night if I am up, I have a cup of broth. I can get almost all of it down before it gets too cold. I am choosing the lo sodium kind so I do not get the ankle swelling. I bet you do not have as much muscle as you think. I bet you have "fat" around your muscle making it look larger. My calf muscles are huge to me, but as I loose the fat around them they are looking smaller. I love the pict of you on your horse. Maybe you should try some streaching exercizes when we can. To lenghten your muscle look. Yoga?

No, I seroiusly have too much muscle, well, not too much, but for a girl I have al lot of natural muscle, even before when I was thin(ner). My sports massage guy always says I should go into body building :scared0: but I'd rather ride :wink0:

I was very bad today. I ate about 6 pop corn balls. They were so yummy. It says right on the package that they are 100 calories each. So I had 3 Protein Drinks at 120 calories and 25 grams of Protein so my calories weren't that bad even with all those pop corn balls.

I need to get posting in this thread again. I will try tomorrow.

My new favorite thing is ham rollups. I mix some light cream cheese (i like the whipped), spinich, chopped artichokes together. I spread some inside ham slices and roll them up. I pop 2-3 in a ziplock bag and lunch is done!

The rol ups sound yummy!! I wish I had read this sooner, I would have taken that to eat at lunch, but it has been hard trying to eat at 2 am. so I have some broth, it's soothing.

Where do you get chopped up artichokes?

I eat ham rolled up with some sort of cheese pretty frequently.

that's one of the things that goes down easily for both Bearded and I - either ham and cheese roll-ups or turkey and cheese rollups -- sometimes I use cheddar cheese and sometimes I use laughing cow -- I found it the other day in french onion - it's yummy.

When Ruthi was here, we thought about mixing the laughing cow with ricotta and seeing if it tasted like french onion dip--just never got around to it, so maybe I'll give that a try tomorrow.

I love all those laughing cow cheeses. I really like Kellogs Multi grain garlic and herb crackers. They are pretty low calorie for crackers and I love to spread laughing cow cheese on a few of them.

I'm really surprised all of you can eat lunch meat this early out for you... I had trouble with it, just didn't go down right for me.

Daisy- If it's the same thing I'm thinking of, you can buy canned artichoke hearts at any grocery store, and I guess just chop them yourself. I make a wonderful dip with them, but not " low calorie" LOL but I sure do like them!!

Can you buy the artichoke dip already made? I have some artichoke hearts in jar, but not sure what to mix it with to make dip.

I will be very good today and eat right due to my pig out on sugar yesterday. I am shocked that when I weighed myself this

a.m. I did not gain any weight. It must have been the hour of hard cardio in the morning that helped with that, because I had so much junk food on Halloween.

Chancie: I just chopped up the artichokes in the jars. I rinsed them well though because they are packed in oil. I can't find any packed in Water. The spinich I run through the bullet to chop it up smaller. Also I chew like there is no tomorrow when eating lunch meat.

Attitude: I bought snack packs of hummus from costco. I have not found them at all Costco's though. You can buy small things of hummus in most grocery stores here. You could divide it into smaller containers. I use the 3 oz dipper cups made by Glade.

Daisy: You could buy dip premade but I make it myself so I know what is in it and can control fat and calories more by using light cream cheese. Also "dip" in the traditional sense might get too runny and make a mess. Cream cheese stays put in the ham.

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
