I've been off work since June 3rd. I'm a teacher so today was our first day back and nearly the whole staff came up to me and asked me what I did to lose so much weight. I even had three of them pull me to the side and ask me ok seriously what did you do and my story is still the same exercise and calorie control. I also said a lot of great sex...lol

I looked in the back of my closet and found 3 very nice pair of dress slacks for work that I bought a couple of years ago after losing some weight but they only fit for a minute back then. I tried them on last week and they are almost too big!!!!!

Oh and as of this morning, I'm in ONE-DER-LAND!!!! Not just visiting this time either! LOVE LOVE LOVE VSG!!

Careful though, I developed an addiction to clothes instead of food :D !!!!

On holiday in a very trendy shop I decided to try on a nautical style blazer which only went up to a size too small, I figured there was no chance of it fitting - WRONG! Perfect fit, and buttoned comfortably :) It was only as I left the shop I realised I was wearing a thick jumper, and it had even fit over that too - Woop!!

My favorite one is sitting on the toilet & finding out it fits.

In order to help me stay focussed to goal, I joined a fitness class yesterday, which meant I got weighed in and then had a motivational talk, and did 45mins aerobics.

I am RUBBISH at exercse, I hate it, I avoid it, and become incredibly embarrassed having to wobble around in front of others, so whilst worrying about all of this I managed to wander into the "HIGH IMPACT" half of the class - this is my frst aerobics class in at least 10 years, so I realised I was trapped and about to be humiliated - GREAT!!

Anyway after a couple of minutes embarrassment I look around a realise that I am actually doing well, I'm working hard, but its not killing me, I'm working up a sweat, but I am not woofing like a walrus just to get my breath, and before I knew it the class was over, I'd high impacted my way through it without a hitch!

MASSIVE NSV! I held my own, had fun, and at the end the instructor came up to me and said "wow Claire, I can really tell how often you must work out, you were great!" - I didn't have the heart to tell her that I move less than your average sloth most days!

Needless to say I'll be going back next week :)

Claire that is great and pretty funny too. My daughter is studying medicine and they know that the fat bodies they dissect will have massive muscles compared with the thin ones. We need those muscles to move the bulk around, so the trick is to lose the weight and retain the muscle mass, hence the high Protein diet.

I am 6 weeks out and have had two awesome NSV's.

First.... I walk and run on treadmill every night. My husband finally decides to join me in the exercise room for the first time last night. As I was running he just stared at me and said "I am amazed!". He couldn't believe I was actually running! :-)

Second.... Took my kiddos to a program and my three year old got tired....when he climbed in my lap in the small seat, I actually had a lap for him to sit in and neither one of us was uncomfortable! Woohoo!

I am loving the sleeve!!!

This is a pic of me in my "new" jeans (bought 6 months ago and never really thought I would be in them. ;) I have NEVER had a "gap" before and about cried when I could see daylight. May be TMI, but had to share w/ people that can appreciate this type of NSV.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
