Wow! Date set for Tuesday! Whoo Hoo!

Recommended Posts

So, I went to the surgeon today and he confirmed that I can have surgery Tuesday! This is my second day of all liquids. I guess it is time to tell my kids and my dad. I have avoided that until I had a date. My husband thinks I should not say anything to the kids until Sunday (so my 10 yo daughter won't worry so much) but I am not sure yet. The shakes aren't bad. I am on Bariatric Advantage.....up to 5 a day. Anyway! I am super excited and nervous, but it is going fast so I am relieved :)

Congrats!

I told my kids every step of the way and they were 7 and 5. Kids can handle more than you think and it was comforting to them to know that I was having something done to my belly so that I would be healthier for them. I bet your ten year old will appreciate your honesty with this and be your cheerleader along the way but it's your choice!

Good luck!

Congratulations! And re: telling family members I, too, am trying to figure this out. My parents are elderly -- my mother is 87 and my father will be 89 this year. Problem is they live in a neighboring town and we stay close, but this may be too difficult for them to understand. Or my mother may be too much in my life over the whole thing when I'd like to have more privacy as I find my own way with the band, etc. And then we have a seventeen-year old son. I definitely want him to be included as I don't want to have secrets in our immediate family -- if I want him to come to me with anything of course I have to do the same. Maybe when I get that surgery date.

It sounds like you want to tell... Follow your heart, you know what's right for your kids.

I told my dad. He is very supportive. He even admitted to me he has been worried about me with the health problems. My mom passed away at 43 with a heart attack. I am 44.

I had my surgery on may 10th. My kids are grown and I wasn't even going to mention it to them but finally with my husbands encouragement I did. they have been very supportive. I only have 2 coworkers that know and I'm ok with that. It's all personal choice. I've been picky about who I've told because people tend to be critical at times and at others they tend to be over supportive. I have lost 32 lbs and when people ask me how I lost it I say "I'm eating healthy and exercising," and I am.

Good luck but I told my daughter since Day one Because believe it or not they're very smart. So like that they know and they understand what's going to happen afterwards

Well, I told the kids last night. My 20 year old was concerned until I told him it was laparoscopic like my appendectomy a couple of years back. They are good with it. My daughter keeps asking questions, but she is naturally inquisitive. She has even tasted my Protein smoothies because she is curious.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
