stuck feeling?

Recommended Posts

I'm almost 3weeks post op, so.I've only been on solids (hesitantly )5days. When foods get stuck, does it feel like it is stuck at the base of your throat? I got this feeling with chicken. I tried drinking Water to help it go down but it didn't help &I felt uncomfortable for about 2 hours!

Yep, that is a stuck feeling. Drinking is the last thing you want to do, it only makes it worse.

You might not of chewed the bit enough or it might have been too big a bit. Some bandster have problems eating chicken, (I'm not one of them) and say that if it is dry it gets stuck every time.

It is all a learning curve. Good luck.

Maybe wait for chicken. Especially if its white meat. I was told that it does tend to get stuck and some don't tolerate it at all. If you do crave chicken, have the dark meat part maybe with some type of gravy/sauce....

I feel like any meat will result in this horrible stuck feeling. I'm scared to touch meat again! I also took a small bite of pizza, and that got stuck too, I felt like I chewed it enough... same thing happened with a whole wheat waffle. Any other foods I should avoid ?

You are only 3 weeks post op so it is possible that you are still swollen. I wouldn't write off any foods just yet. I would suggest smaller bits and waiting a minute between bits. I know you may think you are taking small bits, but try even smaller. This is something that I have battled since I was banded 13 months ago. My bit size and eating too fast, they both get me every time.

It will get easier as time goes on and like I said, don't right anything off just yet. Tomorrow your band may act differently.

If you are looking for meat suggestions, on my list of "easier to get down" i have ham in very small pièces, fish (its not as dry as chicken and its flaky and you dont need to chew as much), any ground meats like ground turkey, chicken of beef. Maybe go with the ground chicken for a while?? I"m a big fan of tuna and it has a lot of Protein. I discovered those little cans of Clover Leaf tuna with flavorings...they are VERY good, the Tomato and onion is good and juicy, thai chilli also....I'm so addicted to them, I just cant wait to be in my 3rd week post op to have them again!

Three weeks post op I was not eating chicken. I was eating cottage cheese, fat free pudding and those kind of soft foods. I did not start eating chicken and such until 6 weeks after surgery. Maybe stick to softer foods for a while longer. Everyone heals different.

I am 4 weeks post op today and I can only have fish, seafood, soft veggies, soft fruit, soft Pasta, and crackers. I can have chicken at 6 weeks post op, along with beef and pork. Maybe it is just too soon to be eating chicken. Hope this helps.

You are eating some hard things right now. any thing that you can wod up in a ball like bread will get stuck Pasta and rice aren't good either. I made my own veggie Soup and then ground up chicken to put in it to get the protient with out the problems. Be very gental to you bsnd for a long time. You doctor should have given you a list of food to NOT eat keep re-reading it so you never have problems.

I've noticed that rotisserie chicken (white meat only) gets stuck for me regardless of how much gravy or sauce I have to dip it in. I can have grilled chicken breast cut very small without any problems. I'm a dark meat fan but I've been eating white meat b/c it's less fattening. I guess dark meat it is!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
