Any bandings in April???

Recommended Posts

This weekend I've been hungrier than a mofo. Been eating everything in sight all weekend like my old self. Just got banded April 5th. Could it be time for a fill? Wondering if I should have chose the sleeve instead.

If you keep that up, your band may slip and you may have no choice but to have a revision with sleeve done. Be careful and again, just remember why you did this. If the doctor has cleared you to eat, make better food choices, and eat foods that are high in Protein and low in carbs. Eat to live, don't live to eat. Good luck. :)

Soo i am home now... just got settled in... the cat missed me... is all curled up on my shoulders and puurrin to his heart content. The stairs weren't that bad getting up so i think i am good here.. i am hurting a bit more today though but i think i might have slept on my stomach for a lil bit last night. Hope all is well.

Hello everyone! I had my surgery 4/10 and I'm doing great. I'm down 22 so far. I still have some discomfort around my port incision and I cant sleep on my side yet, is anyone having this problem almost 20 days out?

Chest and shoulder pain so badly

I was banded April 24th and finally have felt some relief from the shoulder pain. Gas X, Tylenol and a heating pad seemed to really help.

However, I am finding it difficult to stomach anything (protein shakes, yogurt drinks, etc).

I also had a hernia repair when I was banded. Is this why I feel a knot in my stomach?

Question! I have had the worst time with air bubbles. I've been vomiting air all day...not burping, like actually vomiting. I just got banded last Wednesday and I'm worried the retching is going to hurt something. Anyone else experienced this?

I've been walking and trying to get it out, but it's not helping....this is the worst!

I was banded on the 11th and I am still having issues with pain. My port incision hurts and I still can not lift anything or bend over. I'm no wimp, I had 2 c-section and never used pain meds. I was up bouncing around within days of that surgery and slept on my stomach the night I got home. This surgery has knocked me on my butt. I really sympathize with what you're going through.

I was banded 4/24 also. I hadn't had any dry heaves until today. I took a gas-x and ate a sugar-free popsicle. I'm feeling better now, but still having a lot of air bubbles. I've tried walking too but it hasn't helped with the gas. The only things that seem to help are gas-x and a hearing pad.

I think I've kinda experienced this but I always stop myself. It's like I have to burp but feels like I'm going to vomit so I stop myself and its hurts like heck! I just walk and move around and then I can burp somewhat normally then it stops? Not sure if that's what u mean but either way its not fun... Are u eating ok? I had surgery the 24th as well

I was banded 4/24 and I have to say I expected less pain. I also had to have my gallbladder out at the same time so maybe that's y? I don't know where my port is but one particular incision is giving me heck and not sure if that's where they had to dig the GB out of or what (GB had lots of scar tissue apparently). It hurts like heck when I bend or move on one side and the incision is constantly talking to me lol. Anyone else had their GB removed also or prior to banding?

I think I've been lucky, my pain was very tolerable, gas was only bad on day 3 and i was able to drink and take my food very well. My only issue is that one incision where my port is. I'm sorry that you have had pain. Hang in there. :-). I still get these weird tugs now and then but overall my pain is very manageable. I hope that after my first fill I continue to feel well.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
