Any bandings in April???

Recommended Posts

I was doing really well this morning. Got some decent sleep last night, and didn't wake up in pain. Dummy me forgot to fix a Protein Shake before heading to church, and boy am I regretting it! My sugar dropped while in church, and I started getting nauseated. Them the gas pains hit with a vengeance. I am not doing that again. I was able to drink half a Protein shake very slowly and take some gas-x. Now I'm just waiting for that pain to subside a little more. Does anyone else have problems with drainage at suture sites? Three of mine were draining during church and I kept having to go out to blot them and clean my shirt.

Hi group, I just want to encourage everyone to not compare your recovery to others. I have noticed that there are some that say they recovered quickly and others like myself that are still not feeling 100%. I am on day 5 of my recovery, and I am still popping pain killers like they're skittles. I am walking as much as I can, but also allowing myself the R&R my body needs to heal and recover. Don't push yourselves too much, do what you can and focus on just getting better. Everyone's recovery is, and will be different just like everyone's weight lost journey differs. It is good for those of us who are healing and recovering quickly, but it is also ok for those of us who are taking it easy and allowing our bodies to do what they were made to do naturally. Walking has helped me, but resting and relaxing has been good for my mind and body. I have also learned that depression may sneak in, but it is normal to feel a little down. Due to the fact, you have just made a huge life altering decision, and it is going to take sometime to adjust to a whole new lifestyle. For me, when I am down or not feeling well, I would turn to food for comfort. So what do you do when your body no longer allows you to do that? It's like detox, or going through withdraw. So feeling a little sad, or down is expected. This message is just to encourage those of us who may be asking ourselves, what the hell did I do to myself!? I know that this transition and healing process is only temporary, and we will survive, and succeed in the end. Hears to us! (holding up my Protein shake) :)

You should really take it slow. Seems like you may be doing a lot. My incisions are not leaking, and I haven't heard too many others complain about this either. Please contact your doctors office tomorrow and inform them of what's going on, and in the mean time. Give your body a break, and relax.

I am doing okay! doing little walks here and there.. I am still at my mom's and debating on if I want to go home yet, my apt has stairs to get to.. How are you doing? Crafty, I am the same way I think it is just a case of cabin blues so to speak.. just remember, it can't rain all the time. Sherri, Goodluck on Tuesday!

You will get there Jenni. Just relax and take it slow. Enjoy allowing your family to help take care of you. Don't push yourself too much. Remember, you just had surgery, and your body needs that time to heal right. You don't want any future complications that will cause you to have to have surgery again. Good luck! :)

This weekend I've been hungrier than a mofo. Been eating everything in sight all weekend like my old self. Just got banded April 5th. Could it be time for a fill? Wondering if I should have chose the sleeve instead.

I feel your pain. I was banded on the 11 and it's taking all the willpower I have to not eat everything in my fridge. I am hungrier now than when I was on the pre-op diet. I don't think we made a mistake I think we haven't really started the process yet. I think the band starts working when we get close to the green zone. That may take a couple of fills. I am trying to diet now and just keep reminding myself that these pounds are never coming back, however, I am really hungry.

I was banded on the 11th too and have been really hungry... Just trying to keep positive but it's getting harder each day... Getting an adjustment on the 9th hope it will help!! :)

I am doing good! I really started getting my appetite back today and have tolerated my Protein Shakes a little at a time. I'm still weak but I haven't been eating or drinking nearly enough. I have a two story condo that I have been able to get up and down just fine and able to take showers too. I'm still in a little pain mainly from my gallbladder being removed I think. But sure u would do fine with the stairs but better safe than sorry. Good luck with your recovery!

That's good for you... I have been doing the Protein shakes as well.. I woke up Sat and said I needed something a bit more then clear haven't had an issue since.. I have been able to take showers and such I even went to the store today .. got on one of those motorized carts... HAHA ..I enjoyed getting out but it took some out of me... I am going home tomorrow so I will let you know how I do with those stairs. I am in pain still so yours might be a bit of both.. mine is more at the port site and everything still "settling" I guess you could call it. Anna, goodluck on the flooding.. stay safe!

I had surgery to remove my gall bladder after it ruptured, but I don't remember having this kind of pain. I'm sure everything is just settling. I made the mistake of not having something before leaving for church this morning, and my sugar dropped significantly. It's hard to keep track of calories when I'm just on liquids and to make sure I get enough of everything.

Once you get your fill, all that will change. Your mindset and relationship with food is something you will have to work on as well to be successful. Good luck. Just remember why you did this, :)

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
