Chinese Food?

Recommended Posts

Pre-band the hubs and I would occasionally go to a little chinese joint down the street from us. They don't use MSG there and their sodium counts appear to be less.

I use to eat General Tso chicken, but now realize exactly how horrible that was for me. One of my other favs was chicken and broccoli, which I thing would be pretty healthy.

Is there any healthy chinese take out? I don't mind leaving off the rice, but what main dish won't kill me on calories?

I am craving chinese some kinda bad, I know you can make it at home, but I want the real deal.

Well in all honesty chinese people do not eat what they cook for us. They make it fattening because that is what americans want. Even the veggie dishes are high in calories. I would say if you want it then eat it but I dont think any of it is less fattening.

I love Chinese food. I order anything that is not fried meat. There are lots of shrimp stir fries or port or chicken. Yumm might have to get me some this weekend.

Enjoy!

chicken and broccoli should be great. 1 cup of it can't be that fattening???

I found this online, you can pretty much find any food menu and get the nutrional facts on it. I think what TKW said sounds to be just fine... here ya go!

Is still eat Chinese food (and Thai) regularly....as long as it is NOT deep fried, and I also don't eat meat anymore....

When I bring it home, I pick out the things I want to eat (protein) and are band friendly then usually throw the rest away...

Very wasteful I know, I will only eat about a 1/3.....and even then, MAYBE....

This is also one of the few times I eat rice....I will mix about one spoonful in to a point you can hardly tell there is any there at all....

BTW...I'm not a calorie counter...just a Protein seeker....

I still eat Chinese food about once a month. Like others have stated, I stay away from Entrees with fried/breaded meats or veggies. I also stay from fatty appetizers, like crab ragoon, egg rolls, and dumplings.

I look for meals with thin sauces rather than thick gravy, too.

I've had cashew chicken, beef with broccoli and Kung Pao chicken all since being banded. I just keep it to a cup or less and log the calories as best I can. I've never had a problem.

The chef at the local place actually makes it more authentic to chinese culture (healthier) at least according to them. Plus I can order light sauce. On most things they will put the sauce on the side so you can decide if you want to eat the sauce or not.

I think it will be chicken and brocolli for dinner. Yum

The chinese place by my house offers steamed options. Where the chicken and veggies aren't made in any oil or sauces. The brown sauce comes on the side. Just don't eat the rices and sparingly use the sauce. That's my favorite choice!

Low fat/low cal Chinese take-out is almost unheard of... But in the small amount you should be eating with the band, it can't be too bad to eat once in a while.

Last weekend my husband and I ordered take out. We split the steamed chicken an vegetables. I used to order the sesame chicken so we asked for some of the sauce on the side. Like you, I had a craving and that satisfied it for me.

Good luck!

I have Chinese food about once a week. I have brown rice and shrimp or chicken with veggies and I like to add hoison sauce to it. Sometimes I have spareribs on the bone, too. I used be in love with chicken wings and find them hard to chew and digest. Also, I enjoy moi shi. My dietitian said I have no restrictions on any foods but eat smart.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
