Pre-surgery: What great things does the future hold?

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled for surgery on February 5, 2013. My family has a beach vacation planned in August and I wonder what size I will be and will I be comfortable in a bathing suit for the first time in a decade?

Does anyone else have plans or hope (or dreams, etc) in the next 6-12 months that would be significantly affected by banding (and you know, weight loss)?

Yes, I splurged and bought a Marc Jacobs dress in a 14, currently a 22/24. I'm being banded in February as well. I want to wear it for my 14 wedding anniversary in July.

My husband and I want to go on a cruise for our 28th wedding anniversary in November. We've never really been anywhere without our kids. I want to feel and look fabulous, whatever size that may be. Just hope I'm at least 50 pounds lighter by then.

Drs and Lap Band manufacturers say 1-2 lbs per week. I've been averaging 10 lbs per month, but expect to hit a plateau anytime now.lol

i did not expect miracles

i expected to just have something help me

before banding and then after, something clicked

for me to make the band work, i have to help the band

and i stopped making excuses and took responsibility.

i choose to eat right, and follow the band guidelines..

what you lose at your vacation time is up to you

be all you can be by being you..follow your dr's

instructions, help the band and be in a hot bikini in no time

I want to be able to walk for hours long without pain. I miss those days where I was able to walk from one length of the Jersey Shore boardwalk and back with no problem. I want to be able to go back down to Disney World and walk, instead of using the scooter. I want to be able to ride a bicycle, or maybe roller skate.

So many things I look forward to doing again, Its mostly physical activities that will be challenging, but the end reward will be to actually accomplish these simple tasks that we take for granted every day, that is what I mostly look forward to....

This is a terrific question and reminds me to make a list of everything I can't do now that I WILL do as my weight goes down. I think first on my list would be more travel...I've ceased to travel as much because my energy level is so low and I can't just sightsee and walk all day long as I used to be able to do. So more trips, and more participating in life in general. My weight has gradually caused me to isolate myself and I'm finding my life just revolved around three poles right now: home, work and food. I'm am SO looking forward to that changing, and being much more social.

Those are great goals its the little things to others that we will be the most proud of! Don't forget to reward yourself for small goals I chose a new coach bag for the first 20-30 and clothes at about 50lbs!

My surgery date is February 14th and we are planning a cruise in September. My hope is to go zip lining while we are on one of the islands. Plus I want to be able to keep up with my son. He is three and so full of energy. Good luck to everyone and their dreams and goals :D

The future can hold what ever you WANT it to hold, if you are true to your band and follow the rules. Best wishes to you all. I was banded in October 2011 and in a two piece suit in Hawaii in March 2012. Mileage my vary, but yo can make significant progress towards your goals. Best wishes for all your dreams.

If you are anticipating a plateau, you will get one! Think you will never hit a array or have any sort of complication!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
