Any February 2013 Bandsters?

Are there any others set to get banded in February? My doctor's office called to tell me my insurance approved me & set my surgery date for the first! After going back & forth for a couple years & now just completing the 6 months (well technically 7 months) weight loss consultations, it's going to happen. I'm not so sure how to feel about it. Nervous? Excited? Worried? Happy? I thought I'd see if anyone else is getting ready for it all, & see how they're dealing with it. Input from veteran bandsters would be great too! :) Tips on what to expect, need, & advice would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone is having trouble joining he Feb 2013 Bandsters group here on LBT, message me and I'll invite you! :)

Wow, one more week until Feb is here. I go for pre op testing on Monday and today my PCP is signing my clearance form. I am so excited :)

I have a question for anyone who can answer.....can you tell me why we cant drink carbonated beverages after the surgery? Sara

I'm having trouble joining :(

Sara, the sodas are a no-no because of the carbonation and the gas it creates is what I have read and been told.

My date is February 20th due to work schedule, wish it was sooner!! Any nerves I have about the surgery is completely overshadowed by my excitement to achieve my weight loss goals and enjoy the rewards of a healthier lifestyle! It's gotta be better than this right?

Hi there. My date has been changed 3 times, but prayerfully I'm staying on 14 February. What a Valentine's present to me!

I've been trying powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury shakes. www.unjury.com They have a sample pack that's only about $20 I think. But they are good. I also ordered from www.drugstore.com Carb Solutions High Protein shake Mix. I keep that one at work and the Creamy vanilla is really good.

I like the unjury because it comes indiviually packaged. I'm on the go a lot, so I don't need something that I have to measure out. The Carb Solutions I do...but I'm at my desk so it's not a problem.

I also just ordered ProtiDiet Protein Fruit Drink Concentrate from www.bariatricchoice.com I am a fan of grape kool-aid, so I ordered the grape flavor. just got it in the mail, so I'll be trying it soon. It has 15g of protein, no fat and 2g Carbs--so we'll see.

Also check www.bariatricadvantage.com I ordered a Nextar sample pack. Haven't tried them yet. This site has a wealth of information! Vitamins, supplements, all kinds of good stuff.

I've been tryin to incorporate 1 Protein Shake in my daily diet to get used to it. One week before I start my 14 day pre-op diet, I will include 2 Protein Shakes. Hopefully that will ease the shock to my system and I won't have the side effects that everyone talks about. If I do have the side effects...I'll just deal with them...come too far to turn back now Praise God! :D

Hope something I've shared is helpful. Be blessed.

I decided to try Unjury because I'm lactose intolerant. It contains whey protein isolate. It was a huge plus that it tastes good! I don't start my pre-op diet until next month. However, I tried it yesterday. I wanted to make sure I liked it before ordering more. I really didn't expect it to taste good. :)

I bought the unjury shakes as well! I put the chocolate one in my food processor with a frozen banana and a tiny bit of milk and it came out like ice cream. It was really good! I also bought the unflavored and the chicken Soup one. I'm rather skeptical of the chicken soup flavored one but I will try it today and let you guys know. I like that the powder has low carbs in it.

Change of topic: do you guys have any short term weight loss goals? My boyfriend is planning a trip to Big Sky, Mt for mid March and I am so excited! I was already thinking this will be the perfect short term motivation I need. I would like to lose 30 pounds by then but I don't know if that is ridiculous.

Just got my surgery date of February 15th. Super excited.

I'm also new to the site and I'm scheduled for Feb 8th.... Nervous and excited at the same time.... Thanks for the ideas in protein shakes gives some direction :) should be an interesting ride :) I wish all the best.... My short term goal is to lose 30lbs by end if April..... :)

Bella - make sure to join out February 2013 Bandsters group!

I feel you! I had to push my date out by weeks after I was cleared by insurance and my surgeon due to my work schedule. Otherwise, I would have been banded by now. What do you do?

I'm having trouble joining :(

Apparently I have the group set to public - you're listed as a full member. You should be able to browse and reply.
