Any February 2013 Bandsters?

Are there any others set to get banded in February? My doctor's office called to tell me my insurance approved me & set my surgery date for the first! After going back & forth for a couple years & now just completing the 6 months (well technically 7 months) weight loss consultations, it's going to happen. I'm not so sure how to feel about it. Nervous? Excited? Worried? Happy? I thought I'd see if anyone else is getting ready for it all, & see how they're dealing with it. Input from veteran bandsters would be great too! :) Tips on what to expect, need, & advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have a surgery date of Feb 21st! Good luck everyone!!

Started my preop Optifast diet today. Surgery on the 19th. I will struggle the first few days, but won't cheat as my new life has begun! PS. I am hungry!!! :)

My surgery date is in between both of you NurseKelly and WANTMYHEALTHBACK. I'm being banded on the 20th. I live in New Zealand. How are you both feeling about surgery?

WANTMYHEALTHBACK: I remember the HUNGRY feeling when I started my optifast diet. I decided to do a 8 week optifast prior to my surgery date. The first 2 weeks I felt so hungry about an hour after having a shake ... but it does get easier I promise! For the past month I have struggled to finish a whole shake by about half I am close to full! :) I've lost 19.1kg (42lbs) since the start of December. :D

When is your surgery?

When is your surgery?

I am scheduled for Feb 21st

Awesome! I'm this Wednesday.

Feb 15th!! eeek I'm pumped but wondering what I will feel like. Also I am a bit stressed as I am flying to a different city and my patient cor. gave me a very basic list of items to pack. (socks, housecoat, flat shoes etc) They assume you fly in and fly out 2 days later, but since I am having surgery just before my college's week long break, we have decided to stay for 4 days after and fly home on the 5th day post surgery. Any recommendations on comfort items and supplies for post op care that I will need. I would rather buy it before I go and take it along (minus popsicles hehe) to be more prepared and not have to worry about it in a unknown city and my parents have been so supportive and are coming with as my Care team :) :) so lucky <3

Day 4 of my pre op diet. I am on slimtime Protein shakes choco flav flav(getting sick of these as they were all sold out of vanilla and said when they get some in I could send the choco back and they would send me vanilla (well no one has contacted me and considering i leave in a week and few days I am not going to hassel with that. shakes 3 x a day (750 cals) and then up to 250 cals of low glex.veg. These seem like pretty strict rules considering what I have seen other doc's prescribe. *sigh I CAN DO IT!!* Today I wanted to just suck on a cheeto puff until it disintegrated hahaha wow I need this surgery and am so thankful that I am getting it ASAP! I also caught myself staring at a girl eatting chili and a bun from tim hortons as we sat in the college commons and damn was I drooling and guess what I don't even like or eat chili EVER haha. But on a plus note i picked up some of those ketosis strips from the pharm. and peed on them today and they showed that I have a bit of it in my system, meaning I think I am burning some fat! booya my Surgeon will be proud.

I did cheat the other day and eat a few small pieces of beef Jerky, think I'm gonna get blasted for that?

Help I don't feel physically hungry in my tummy but my mind is going crazy with cravings.

I drank some dandelion tea to get the bile moving, hopefully that helps and I have a wicked back taste in my mouth, not enough Water today. Just needed a vent. and maybe some people have some suggestions.

I am looking forward to day 2 post op when I can have some chicken broth, clear Soups. I am a meat and savory snacker girl through and through.

I am away from home for the last 3 nights so I'm not sure how much I have lost so far (no scale here)

Surgery in the morning...EEASSHHH!

I just got approved for surgery...last week of feb!

@Kileybug34 how long did your insurance approval process take? I have Federal BCBS and it seems to be taking a long time everytime I call still in review. Its only been 7 business days but it feels like a month!!...

I just got banded this morning! I was so nervous, but all is well. I'm having so gas pains however not nearly as bad as I prepped myself for. Now the excitement is starting set in that this is real!
