Any February 2013 Bandsters?

Are there any others set to get banded in February? My doctor's office called to tell me my insurance approved me & set my surgery date for the first! After going back & forth for a couple years & now just completing the 6 months (well technically 7 months) weight loss consultations, it's going to happen. I'm not so sure how to feel about it. Nervous? Excited? Worried? Happy? I thought I'd see if anyone else is getting ready for it all, & see how they're dealing with it. Input from veteran bandsters would be great too! :) Tips on what to expect, need, & advice would be greatly appreciated.

Try going back to the group and clicking "Group Discussion" from the right hand side. The groups will be getting overhauled in the next few weeks and I'm told things will be easier to navigate!

I start my pre-op all protein shake diet tomorrow. Of course my hubby decides to plan a sushi date for tomorrow, I have to say no because I know he is testing my resolve. Why can't people just be supportive and not play little passive aggressive games?

I read this and am so sorry that the person who should support you is not doing so. I have a similar issue with a family member. I get support on the surface but sabotage is lurking nearby. I'm no therapist but I bet your hubby is scared that things will change and you will change. Just try to focus on your success and I'm sure once he sees the changes are good ones, I bet he backs you 100%.

Gowalking is absolutely right...the passive aggressiveness isn't to sabotage you so much as to console himself that YOU aren't really changing/leaving him. Food is a way to be close to someone. Ask any Italian :) It's currency for love, some times. Maybe your hubby needs to reassure himself that you still love him. Mine did the same thing, I let myself get off my liquids day 1 at the end of the night because he offered me a bite of pepperoni stromboli TWICE when I declined TWICE. And I know he liked his hot wife. So I know he doesnt' want me to be heavy, but food has been our mutual passion for a few years. It's a hobby. Hard to break those.

I am looking at being banded the last week of February...pending insurance...Excited!

My husband is losing his mind. I just got home from work and he asked me if we were going out for sushi tonite. I reminded him that I started my pre-op diet and that I would go with him, but would not be eating (trying to compromise). He then gets angry and says that just because I am changing my diet it shouldn't affect him and walks out the front door. Half an hour later he comes back home and doesn't say he is sorry, but instead decides to remind me that I am very lucky to have been approved for this surgery and I need to stick to the diet. He then tells me that I need to have more willpower and take this seriously.

I literally started laughing from the absurdity of the whole situation, which of course got him upset. I think that maybe he is a little stressed about all of this and does not know what to say or do. On one hand I think he has lost it, and on the other I know I need to try and help him express what he is really feeling about this.

Our families go through the stress and anxiety that we do. I have had the last seven months to digest and work through all of it, whereas he is just being hit with it now.
