Detoxing Off Sugar

Recommended Posts

This is kind off a spinoff from another thread. I HAVE to get off sugar and need help. Most have said that cold turkey is the way to go so I've decided to go that route. I would love to hear some stories of people's real-life experiences with this: the good, the bad and the ugly! I know about the headaches and the crankiness. And most people have said 3-4 days. I truly feel like I CAN'T do it (but I definitely want to). How do you feel emotionally? Physically? And once you're finally detoxed off the sugar in 3-4 days how do you feel? Someone tell me everything!

Id like to hear it too. That is going to be a major hurdle for me. Ive HEARD of a 21 day, but not so much a short time like you are saying. I NEED to get off the sugar. Ive started w/ soda and yes Ive been rather cranky, as its been about three weeks. I have one a day no more, of diet pepsi. I KNOW I should cold turkey if I can do just one a day. But its like a dear old friend,LOL, killing me softly. Like the cigarettes Ive more or less given up too. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH, come to think of it VERY CRANKY!!! Sandy tee hee

I detoxed from sugar and I had a horrible headache day three and four. After the headache was gone it was fine but I must say this: If you are planning to detox from sugar that means everything including carbs that turn to sugar. No white stuff, rice, bread, Pasta, no peas, carrots, no cereals, no fruit. If you truly want to detox from sugar then you must eat Protein (meat) and vegetables. That means no yogurts with any kind of sugar. Only splenda or stevia, no dairy either. It was the hardest thing I ever did in my life but now I do not ever crave it. Once I got past 3 months and lost almost 50lbs with this I could add back in my dairy, yogurt and cereals that had no sugar. I still do not crave sugar. It was hard I can not lie but after the first week I was fine. So what did I eat? I had hard boiled eggs for Breakfast, 4 ounces of meat for lunch and dinner with any kind of vegetable except the ones listed. If I got hungry in between I drank EAS carb control Protein Shakes. It was hard but it was what I needed to jump start my weight loss again after I quit smoking.

detoxing from suggar and carbs can be a hard one but it can be done.

I recomend like many said going cold turkey many wommen have a poor response cycle to suggar anyhow. So like previous poster said: no white flour, potatoes, rice, Pasta or bread. You can have fruit because it is less of a glycemic index then the bread and Pasta. Just have smaller amounts of fruit like 1/2 of a nael orange or 1/2 of a large apple.

I did The 21-Day Sugar Detox, in fact I did it for 28 days instead. It was amazing!! I felt with so much energy, and the cravings disappeared after day 3 or 4. I used coconut Water when I needed something sweet. Lost 12 pounds with it. Mine was no sugar or grains. You can find more information on FB there is a page with a lot of useful tips.

I didn't find it hard, for me it was like, I can survive 21 days without sugar and grains. I have had plenty of those, I know how they taste already..

Good luck!

Oh, and I didn't use any sugar substitutes (splenda, stevia, etc). For fruit I ate green apples or banana, no with brown spots (those have more sugar) and only one fruit per day.. I can send you the information if you want..

started my pre op after a life long love affair of sugar/salt

4 or 5 days into it, without my soda,

my headaches stopped and havent had one since

i was grumpy, and grouchy but my hub said you wanted this so do what you have to do and quit bitching.. so i did and got on with it..its hard but its worth it..

all i can say is i did a 20 day pre op all liquid and never in a million years did i think i could do it

but i wanted it and i knew by cheating, id be cheating myself...you will hear some cheated and they were

fine , but that is them...this is you

if you want this surgery

then do what you have to do in order to have it.

following the rules.

all the best honey

you can do this...

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
