I was banded 09/14/12 and am 29 years old. The only people I have met in the support groups that have had lap band are over 70 years old and are having completely different issues than me. I would love to chat with someone young that is going through or has gone through what I have gone through. I think the reason why I don't know of anyone in my age group that has had Lap band is because we keep it a secret for the most part and the seniors love to share. Laparoscopic Gastric Plication, involves sewing one or more large folds in your stomach. During the Laparoscopic Gastric Plication the stomach volume is reduced about 70% which makes the stomach able to hold less and may help you eat less. There is no cutting, stapling, or removal of the stomach or intestines during the Gastric Plicaiton. The Gastric Plication may potentially be reversed or converted to another procedure if needed.

I had it done at the same time as the Lapband surgery. It's still considered a new procedure so many insurances don't cover it or doctors don't offer it.

Thank you Tara-U, I've heard it mentioned a few times and wanted to see what I was missing out on. I'm so excited I finally got a date of 3/18 yay! But my doctor never mentioned plication, maybe it's not offered by his office.
