I Had Revision From The Lap Band To Bypass

Recommended Posts

So in 2009 I had lap band. Lost 25 pounds. November of 2011 I developed severe pain and other issues . Doctor removed the lap band stating that I developed a sudden allergy to the silicone. March 28th of this year I had gastric bypass. To date I have lost 80 pounds. Best decision I have ever made! I hated the band. Was either too tight or not tight enough. Not much weight loss either. My husband had the lap band in 2010. Due to not losing weight he got it removed and had the bypass 3 weeks ago. He's lost 30 pounds in the first two weeks. I'm so happy that I did this revision!!!

I'm sorry it didn't work for you or your husband. I hope you both find what you need.

I've been very successful with the band personally. I've lost 156 pounds in 9 months and couldn't be happier.

Awesome losses for both of you!! Sorry the band didn't workout for you and had to have more surgery but sounds like your doing amazingly now!

The band is not for everyone...however many individuals are very successful with their weight loss journey...including me!

Good to read that you are happy with your choice.

Three former co-workers have had lapband surgery. Two have had great success with it. The other co-worker had complications. She didn't lose much weight, either. Her band slipped and she didn't even know it. That was enough for her. She went to another doctor and her insurance paid for bypass. She's exceeded her weight loss goal and is happier than ever.

Happy that both you and your husband are having better success with bypass. :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
