Having Trouble With Slime And Burping

Recommended Posts

Hello Ladies, and Gentlemen, I am in need of some suggestions. I was banded 3/1/2009, I have had 2 fills and was great...I havent had a fill in over a year...Well something has happened and I am having terrible reflux at night, to the point I am waking up gagging and choking from throwing up, and have to rush to the bathroom and here comes the Slime....During the day i cannot eat or drink without feeling the need to burp and alot of slime coming up....I am not sure if medication i have been on is affecting my band...I just had knee surgery this morning and have been on pain medication for about 12 weeks...What home remedy do yall suggest until I can get into the Doctor....With all of this do yall suggest a small amount taken out...I not sure what to do, any thoughts and suggestions are welcome...Didnt expect any trouble after all this time and everything was fine....

Call your doctor. The symptoms you describe sound like your band has slipped. Please call your doctor asap and get it checked.

I agree that u should call your surgeon to make sure that everything is ok. It could very well be the pain meds or the result of the surgery u just had, i had never had an episode of reflux till i had my plastic surgery, and i eventually had to take some gaviscon, or whatever the US equivalent is, that worked a treat till i was eating more normally. It does sound like it is more linked to your surgery but u do need to discuss with your lapband surgeon to make sure everything is ok .. good luck.

I just saw my surgeon today. He is taking 1/2 - 1 cc out in 3 weeks the day before myhysterectomy. Then he said he would put it back in about 2 weeks after surgery. The symptoms you describe are what he said we wanted to avoid. Call your LB doc! Good luck.

Have you been lying down a lot with your surgery? I know that this affects my band. Also medications that have kept me groggy, one being percocet that I took for cramps a couple of months ago. Majorly made my band feel tighter, slimed a lot but I was lying down off and on for three days. Definitely have it checked with your doctor. Good luck and let us know his it goes.

Thanks for the response's....I have been having these troubles for about a month, woke up suddenly and scared one night throwing up in my sleep, while doing some research this is considered sliming..I think..Well it has been progressively gotten worse, maybe the surgery will make it worse, but I am gonna beg and plead to get in at the Doc's tomorrow...I will keep everyone updated...

glad to hear you are trying to get into your dr's as a matter of priority. Ongoing reflux as you describe can also damage your oesophagus.

i was having the same issue, nauseous, wanting to throw up and only slime will come up, waking up wanting to throw up and nothing! I called the doctor he asked what meds I was taking and I had just started the pill 3 weeks before he told me to stop to see how I felt and at the second day I was feeling so much better so I stop taking it completely. Good luck

Yes call your dr ASAP! My symptoms were similar but didn't have a slip- band was just too tight. Tiny unfill & back in the zone. It can happen out of the blue. Good luck.

Hello Ladies, My Doc. seen me this afternoon, and he withdrew 3mm out of my band and told me it was from having surgery and I was swollen, I am doing good and not liking hardly any restrictions, but he told me to get it about a month, and heal from my knee and he will put the Fluid back in two sessions at no charge..my band hold 10 mm and I had 6.5mm in it, and after withdrawing the 3 mm I have no restrictions, but it is alot better than not keeping anything down...

Hi - I have been under a terrible amount of stress and tonight I took 4 bites of dinner and immediately got that terrible pain like someone is sitting on your chest then came the sliming. I haven't experienced such pain like this before. Do you think it could be the stress that I'm under tightening the band?

Absolutely..... personally this has happened to me... I really did not want to believe it.... and antacids and stomach calmers. Amoxaprole ?
Those did help.
And settling the issues finally this month will help.... sigh

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
