A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?

Recommended Posts

Hi Bandsters,

I have only posted one other time, but I really enjoyed the reading of this tread regarding supersized. I was banded 12/29/05 (just before the new year). I am a slow loser, but needed 3 fills before I felt anything.

The day of surgery I weighed 260, I am 5'2" tall. This was not my highest weight by far. My highest weight was: more than 354. I weighed that on the Dr scale and I know I weighed at least 20 pounds more before I started loosing weight.

I lost to 195 to 200 pounds and stayed at that weight for 10 yrs. Then

in Dec 2004 my wonderful Hubby died and before I could blink twice I had

gained 40 pounds, then another 20 while "trying" to diet!

I knew (like all of us knows) I was in serious trouble of gaining it all back.

That is why I got banded, to stop it from happening.

Since being banded I have lost 42 pounds, my mini goal is 195 and then

175 is my true final goal. With the support of my family and YOU, I may not get there in my time BUT I know I will in God's time.

Thanks for the wonderful sharing.

Donna in Sacramento CA;)

gogetgoget I am sorry about your ups and downs with weight loss but now you are going to be able to keep it off. Emotions are vicious and I know I turn to food but with the band it will only allow you to go so far.

Congratulations on your 42 pounds:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

You all are great motivaters. The pictures were awesome, you are so cute, and the weight drop really shows. You'll have to excuse me as I get used to the site and find my way around. There's a lot of areas on here and I get lost. Can someone tell me how to start a ticket tape on the bottom of my messages? Robyn, where do you live. This clothes idea sound really cool. When I loose, I have some really nice stuff to give, and don't want to buy a lot for only a short period of time. My luck, you live on the coast somewhere.

Guess whose scale has read below 300 consistently for 3 days now...

I was afraid to believe it until it registered consistently for 3 days, because I tend to bounce a few pounds (my scale - fluctuates about 4 lbs).

Ok so GRANTED, 298.2... but STILL...

:whoo:

Hi all, I've only been here a little bit, and not been banded as of yet, I have my first seminar to attend on Aug. 3rd. then we get everything rolling. I'm pretty nervous, and excited all at the same time. My BMI is 51.5, 380 LBS, and 38 yrs.

Good luck to everyone, I'm here because you are all so supportive of each other, and I'm gonna need some of that in the future.

I'm working on it! :)

296 this morning... I'm extremely close to a "lowest weight in 8 or 9 years" benchmark... extremely close, as in about 3 lbs away. I take off for a business trip tomorrow, maybe the extra in-flight restriction will kick me over the edge.

I was wearing a too-tight 32 (a.k.a. shoulda been wearing a 34) when I walked into the hospital 4.5 months ago, and today I'm wearing a sz 24 as I sit and type this message. :)

Thanks all, for the support!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
