Smoke is enough man for 2 to share, but I do think I had him first. HA

Karen ~ You long lost soul. Good to see you back!! :clap2: I have NEVER heard Jr booed (the spelling check says this is correct, it doesn't look right :) ) like that in my life. Carl was WAY out of line going after him on the track with his hand out the window and for going into victory lane. I like Carl, but I think the real guy has yet to be seen. Looking at the replay, Carl bobbled and Jr could have checked-up, but that would have caused a wreck with Robbie. Jr made the right choice as far as I'm concerned. Hey, don't be a stranger. How's the band treating you. Hope we don't get scolded by the LBT police for getting OT here. :rolleyes

Missy ~ You just gave me the best laugh I've had all day. THANKS!! Now, who was that Jeff guy? Has he been driving long?

You should show yourself on here more often. I love your sense of humor. Gordon & his crew have really come back from the, the, the, whatever you want to call it. Anyway, they are secure for the chase this year. My mom was getting a little worried a couple of months ago. That woman has dreams about Jeff Gordon. How sick is that? Her computer becomes her new entertainment after Thanksgiving. That is until all the grand kids invade her house. We still hear about "my Jeffy". She has Jeff Gordon doll for the boys to play with. OH....here's a story for you.....Danny thought it was Superman b/c they also have a superman with similar colors. Danny handed the Gordon doll to grandma and said Gordon is stinky!! Boy, did I get an earful. I didn't hear the actual event, but I laughed my butt off. I swear to this day that child did NOT learn that in this home.

I'm rambling now and need to log off and get to bed. Thanks for listening to my ramblings and hope you post more about Gordon.

Well.. I gotta defend my man Junior here.. Don't get me wrong, I think Carl has the best attitude and is just really grateful for being where he is, but I also think he is just really frustrated this year, his performance hasn't added up to last year. Probably just a sophmore slump, and some bad luck! He shouldn't have done the retaliation thing, that was wrong. I think Junior was in a no-win situation. We all know that he goes out of his way not to wreck folks and if he ever does screw up he bends over backwards apologizing (probably trying to not be lumped in to the "just like his old man" category).... Carl was loose, but had stablized, don't know if Junior could have back off more or not without wrecking them all....

Also, the booing at Bristol as explained by the folks on TV and a few folks that I know who were there was that Junior was in the truck ahead of Carl. When Junior went by... cheers, then the cheers turned to boos...

I like them both, and am sure they have worked it out. After all, had it been Smoke instead of Juniot we know it would have been intentional! Wink* Wink* 3loves and Dody! Just kiddin, you know he's my number 2 man!

Later Nascar Friends!

Let's go Kim. :boxing: Put up your dukes. :biggrin1: Glad to hear the real story on the boos. It just seemed unbelievable Jr would get treated in that manner.

Do you remember Smoke actually doing the same thing to Carl a few weeks ago? It wasn't for a win, but Carl checked-up or something and Smoke got in the back of him.

I agree with you. Carl is frustrated this year. Man oh man, it should be fun in CA this week. That's where we are right?

Does anyone get ticked at the way ABC misses the wrecks and all the good action? I don't think they do as good of job as Fox. What do you all think?

That Jeff guy drives MIDGET cars doesn't he????

Actually it was Carl Edwards that got booed, not Jr.

Stewart is NOT a crybaby and anyone that say so has to deal with 3 Loves and I, and if he ever becomes one I have one great shoulder he can cry on any time he so desires.

3 Loves...you are married. You can NOT..understand can NOT have dibs on SMOKE. Who says you had him first? I wonder if he and the guys he lives with in his old home need a housekeeper. I know one that would be interested :P

Hmmmm.........I've been trying and trying to think of a clever comeback, but I just can't come up with one!!! :noidea:

I am at a loss......:speechles I think my brain is fried. But I'm going to keep thinking!! LOL

But for now I am just going to pretend I didn't hear you!! :lalala:

It's fun playing with the little smilies!!

Is it Friday yet??? :nervous

BTW, my sister lives in Memphis TN. I spent a whole summer there when I was 16, and I must say the humidity is INSANE!! So when we visit we try to go in the fall, spring or winter!!

I'm sure Gordon drives "midget" care...LOL.

The humidity here is terrible and something I'm not used to being. Being from Idaho where we don't have this kind of humidity it is stiffling to say the least. I really don't know if I could take this humidity all the time to be honest...it truly is horrible.

Congratulations to DeAnn and others. Kasey won the Bush race tonight. :clap2: Looks like Tony had a rough qualifying run and is starting 22nd. It's a late race since it's in CA. Should be interesting with all the guys so close in points. I bet we may see here what Bristol should have been last week.

Whew! So Glad to see Dale Jr. got a little pad in the points after Sunday's race in Cali! He's in sixth place! Now he's gotta get past Richmond... Congrats to all you Kasey Fans (including me)!

Thanks for keeping us in contact with Michelle, Paladin! Tony was quiet again this week! What's the deal? Did you guys see where he flipped the sprint car mid-week?!

On to Richmond... Go Dale Jr. & Tony!

We were so happy to see Kasey win again. My DW drools over him and those eyes. Proud of Jr too. I think he's finally found the rhythm he needs for the chase.

As far as Smoke is concerned, I think Zippy is letting him down. This is 2 wks in a row he hasn't given Smoke a decent car to work with. He has really struggled.

My MIL says the same thing about Gordon. At least the crew let him down. Can't believe they made a mistake of a loose lug nut. Unacceptable. That guy should be replaced. Gordon thanked his crew for a good job, but that was just suck-up b/c they let him down for sure. Gordon was on target to win that race.

Things should heat up next week in Richmond. Don't you all love night races? They're a favorite at our home. Just noticed that Kasey won this race last year.

GO SMOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did anyone see this poll on NASCAR.com? I find it hard to believe that so many people think Kasey won't make the chase. If for one, think he will.

Will Kasey Kahne make the Chase for the Nextel Cup?

Yes, he's on a rollpixel.gif1737953%No, it's too little too latepixel.gif1518447%TOTAL32563 Votes

After seeing this thread get larger and larger, I was inspired to see “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby”.

The movie taught me so much about NASCAR racing. It made me really proud to be an American and to have this truly American sport to watch.

I learned about the religious practices of the people in the Red States where NASCAR racing is king. I appreciated most my new understanding of the methods of saying “Grace” before meals.

The movie gave me new insights into family values. I was educated in to the true sharing of friends and family, and the how respect for elders was taught to and shown by children.

Now I know why NASCAR racing is so dear to the hearts of many of the LBT members.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
