You are very early in this journey. You've only had 1 fill and was banded in March. It's normal to possibly gain some after surgery because your body is healing and re-adjusting to everything. Plus, with no restriction yet, you can eat just like you did before. Be patient and wait for more fills before beating yourself up. It doesn't do any good. Just try to stick with healthy foods as much as possible if you are hungry.

Also, if you are hungry...eat. Just don't eat the bad foods like cakes, ice cream, chips, etc. Stick with yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese sticks, etc. That's how I got through bandster hell. When I got really hungry, I learned to turn to good foods rather than the junk I use to eat.

Good luck to you.

P.S. It's very hard to gain 5lbs. in one week. I would be willing to bet it's Water retention from a lot of sodium intake or that time of the month. Try increasing your Water intake. That will help with water retention. Weight again in a week. You may be surprised.

I gained after surgery too....dont beat yourself up over it. I got banded in December, and just since this last fill (April 2nd) have I really been seeing some weight loss. Its slow, but steady. I go in today for another fill, but think I'm VERY close to my green zone. I"m not hungry all the time anymore, and feeling great. It took 3-4 fills to get to this point. Dont give up, and dont get discouraged. Journal your food and get some exercise in....see if you can move your next fill up a little sooner and let your doctor know that you are hungry all the time...they can adjust your fill based on that.

Good Luck!

I have been a SLOW loser since having my band placed. Dont let it get you discouraged. I too, have had my moments of thinking if I did the right thing or if this is really going to work for me. But once I got to my sweet spot, I am starting to see the scale move. I just got another fill yesterday and in the 4 weeks between fills, I lost 7lbs. That is almost 2lbs per week average, which is perfect. Some people lose faster than others, dont compare yourself to others because your body is different. Once you get to the right amount in your band, you will see results. For me, I dont start seeing a difference from my fills for almost 2 weeks...thats how my body adjusts. I only got 1/4 cc this time, but I am so close to my sweet spot I didnt want to get it too tight. So, for now I will go 1/4 cc at a time until I feel I am at a good place, then stay here until it feels like its getting looser. Just be patient, you CAN do this!!!

Yes, journalling your food is SO IMPORTANT. Give it a try. I journalled every single day for 14 months and lost about 111 lbs.

Now in maintenance I journal about once a week just to double check my food choices and see where I'm at with calories and Protein counts.

I've been losing some weight since getting banded on 4/23 but yesterday and today I seem to be gaining! That's considering the fact that I'm barely eating (no junk and sweets either) and drinking lots! It's not a big gain ( .5 lb yesterday and .3lb today) but still upsetting :(

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
