If I chew chew chew I'm good. If I take a full mouth full of liquid I can feel it stop and gradually go through the band. I know I wasn't supposed to but I ate a little kielbasa tonight and that was ok. It's just amazing how little food I can eat and be fine. Now I need some better meal ideas, planning and such.

That's a good idea to share meal ideas. Some of my go to meals are 3 oz chicken from a grocery store rotisserie chicken with either 1/2 c bushs seasoned recipe black Beans or 1/2 c refried beans. Lots of Protein and Fiber.< /p>

For breakfasts I either do 1 scoop vanilla Unjury on 1 c trop 50 oj with crushed ice- sometimes add 1/2 c frozen strawberries...or I do 1 scoop unjury chocolate splendor with 1 c skim milk and some crushed ice.

Let's all give some suggestions!

Meredith, hope your doing OK!

JustDoIt, I have plain Greek yogurt in the morning with a teensy-tiny drizzle of honey and sesame seeds sprinkled on top. lunch is usually a small Wendy's chili or a chicken salad from somewhere, I eat the chicken breast and a small amount of the lettuce. I like Soups for lunch, too. dinner is fish and a vegetable or tuna salad or an omelet with cheese and veggies. I also drink the Protein bullets with 24 or 42 grams of protein since I'm not sure I'm getting enough protein in all the time.

For Breakfast its either a 2%cheese & egg omelet but mainly its a Protein Shake.< /p>

For lunch its tuna salad or chicken salad, or small chili w/ cheese from Wendy's (I may go to the hot bar at the grocery store and get a meat and veggie)

For dinner, I try to change it up from time to time, last night I made chicken fettucini w/ Classico alfredo sauce for the family. For me I took out a few cut up pieces of the grilled chicken from the Pasta and put it over veggies, I took a teaspoon of the alfredo sauce and cut it will skim milk and put it on top just for some flavoring. I figured I ate light all day a little alfredo sauce wont be too bad.

When I make spaghetti w/ ground beef (97/3) and salad for the family. I use either heart smart or light smart Prego sauce, I grill me a piece of chicken breast and I use some of the sauce (without the meat) and shredded cheese and put it over my chicken with some salad. If you like a sweet sauce like my family I just sprinkle in a little splenda (they don't even know I stopped using real sugar in their sauce)

Another quick dinner is grilled steak and cut it up over a salad and a nice light dressing.

Fish is always a winner too.

I cook almost everything on my Nuwave Oven..I love that oven!! countertop healthy cooking.

Btw: if you cook a big enough steak you can cut it in half and have some for lunch the next day.

1 last quick lunch meal I'd like to add is chef salad with lean ham and turkey, 2% cheese, 1 hard boiled egg, Romaine, tomatos, I don't use croutons but its an option and lignt dressing. If I'm really hungry by lunch I may eat a yogurt with it or sugar free pudding.< /p>

NJ2NC those are good ideas! I eat a lot of "deviled" eggs- I just peel the egg- usually 2 or 3- and mix the yolks with a little olive oil mayo and chopped green onions

Today for my mushie lunch I'm eating instant mashed potatoes. Sometimes I'll add some rotisserie chicken, super yummy! But I'm not counting carbs at all- I feel, and Dr agrees, that if I get in all my Protein, am exercising, and not eating starchy carbs at EVERY meal, then I really don't need to. Now, if I every plateau, I may consider restricting carbs!

No change in how my restriction feels today, we'll see how it goes. I have another fill scheduled for 3 weeks! I will get there!! LOL

So this is why I don't exercise... ;)

(Oh, and before I forget, I'm in the Atlanta area!)

Over the weekend, my vibration plate exercise machine arrived. I have really bad arthritis in my left hip which makes most normal exercises really painful. I had seen one of these machines at a Home show a while back and got swept into the fad. I waited to buy one, though because they're normally $2000+! I found one that had great reviews on Amazon for $400 and bought it. Then I thought "I'd better make sure this is okay to use with the lap-band!" I started reading and found some posts of panic about how it can shake your band loose, etc. etc. But then I saw a post about how there's no way it could shake the band loose, if it had that much power it would be scrambling all of your internal organs, so I thought, "I'll listen to the voice of reason!"

I put the machine together and did the upper body workout from the dvd Saturday. Wow did I feel it!!! So last night (around 10:00) I did the lower body workout. It really focused on your core. I had some troubles with the lunges because of the hip, but other than that no worries...

Fast forward to midnight, I woke up with a little bit of nausea and some minor pain in my abdomen. I chalked it up to acid reflux and the killer workout and tried to get in a more comfortable position for about the next 10 minutes. The pain gradually got worse. I got up and walked around a little, the pain got worse... so I took a pain pill left from surgery and went downstairs to let the dogs out. THE PAIN GOT WORSE!!! I was crying and moaning and shaking and praying and panicing that the machine had caused my band to slip. I was ready to head to the emergency room, and then the voice of reason kicked in... if my band had slipped, or flipped, or whatever I wouldn't have been able to swallow the pain pill right? I moaned and cried for the next hour (somehow my husband slept through it all!) and it finally started to go away and I was able to go back to bed. I'm fine today.

The best thing I can figure is that my ab muscles were swollen from the workout and were pressing on the band. Has this happened to any of you after a kick-butt core workout? I was scared to death!

Hopefully the next workout won't be as bad, and I'm on my way to a six-pack!

JDI130, When I asked my nutritionist about certain foods she said to just always try to stay less than 15g of net carbs especially for things like snack bars and yogurts. I do try to avoid carbs like bread, rice, Pasta etc. (I'm not counting either) but I look at how many carbs are in the foods and try to stay within guidelines. I do well with my Protein but I'm a complete slacker on my exercise and water..going today, 1st time in a couple weeks.. and work on my couch to 5k program and planning to try Zumba for the first time tomorrow.

Can you make it an 18 pack??? LOL. I really think it would have to totally shake the heck out of you to make anything happen to the band- and if that's the first ab workout you've done since being banded that may have something to do with it too. Just do take it easy!!!!

NJ2NC- I love Zumba!! have fun!!!!

WIDRT (what I'm doing right today)

Keeping on the mushies for today- regular foods tomorrow

good Water consumption going down- 16 oz so far, plus a couple gulps, more 15 minutes after lunch

waiting 15 minutes after lunch to drink!

Exercise- elliptical- planned for tonight!

all food logged so far!

Have a great day!!

Hi gang! I just came back from the doctor's office. I had my 1cc fill {second fill} that the surgeon put in on Thurs taken out. It was just too much for me. I lost 6lbs since Thursday night! What a wonderful relief it is to be able to drink Water and not have it gurgle, slime, stuck or throw up as I've done the past few days. I was miserable but just thought I needed a few days for the second fill to settle. WRONG! So, now I'm back on liquids, correction, still on liquids, for the next day or so, then mushies and then maybe by Friday, I'll be able to have a nice grilled rare NY Strip steak!

I am 2 lbs away from Onderland. Hopefully I'll be able to keep the 6 lbs off and get back into working out {haven't worked out since Thurs as I had no energy to do anything}! Oh, what a relief it is........

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
