Hey everyone! Just checking in....surgery went well, recovering now in my private room. Pain is a 1-2 while laying and I'd really be great if I didn't have to keep peeing from the iv fluids!!

Hello "horsegilr" I'm glad everything when well for you :)

Hi everyone-

Journey2be- good luck!

Elizabeth- hope you're recovering well

Journey4me- those will be hard to keep straight, LOL- I'm not sure on the portion sizes, I'll ask at my dr appt today. I feel like I can drink as much as I want- a 1 c Protein Drink was not a problem this morning. I took my time and sipped, but didn't wait several minutes between sips or anything. I'll let you know what the doc says for me.

I didn't do the cream Soup last night, did Unjury chicken broth (better than the canned crap) and some popsicles. I did do a Protein Shake this morning.

I have my post-op appointment today, I'll let you know how much weight I've lost! Just some pain in my abdomen- some by the port, some on my left side, don't know what is up with that.

See you later!

I was banded the 17th, I had 2 weeks of clear/full liquids up to TODAY!! yay. I see the nutritionist today at 4pm for the next phase of my diet. The nutritionist is great! today I'll find out what I should be eating, calories, portion sizes, food choices, and all that good stuff.

I'm not sure what your program recommends (it seems they vary greatly) but I'll share if your interested.

Hi Journey 4 me- so my doctor said it was what I could eat in 30 mintues- not a portion particualrly. He said if I serve a salad plate of food, eat very small bites, chew thoroughly, and if I was done before 30 minutes, I was done, and if it was 30 minutes and I still had food left, I was done.

Hope this helps!

Hey! My doctor states three meals per day (no grazing in between) of 1/2c serving sizes. So 4 oz. is a 1/2c serving size. However with that said, I'm three weeks out and I eat a ful 6oz greek yogurt. I called my nutritionist today and told her I felt like I was eating more than 1/2c and she said at this point I should be working up to 3/4c. As far as liquids, I'm supposed to "sip" all day long. They say you can get 4-6oz liquid per hour. I have been able to get 8-10 give or take of Water, but I'm also not timing it to a tee. I just drink everytime I think about it, still making sure I stop 15 min. before and 1/2hr after a meal. SOOOOO much to keep straight!

So your stomach is about 1/2-1/3 cup size. It doesn't matter ounces, just eat the right things until you're full. I get the sensation I'm about to burp when I am full. Here is a sample meal 3-4 walnut sized turkey meatballs & 1/4 broccoli & coliflower steamed (frozen). Or a packet (starkist albacore tuna in the blue packet not can) mixed w/ tspn lite mayo & 1/4 cup steamed carrots. I hope this helps.

The drinking thing- see it seems to me that I can drink a lot, I have no difficulty whatsoever. But then other times it seems like it sits and then kind of funnels down, LOL. And not drinking 30 minutes before or after- and I'm a drinker with meals. I will have to remember and concentrate!

My dr put in a 14 cc band, what size are you guy's bands? He took a picture of my stomach with the band in it- that will look good in my scrapbook, LOL. I asked him yesterday why that size, he said it was the one that was a better fit for my anatomy, that they'd rather have a bigger band they can fill rather than a band that is too tight from the get go, that can cause problems. I just hope it's not too too long to find my sweet spot.

It's good to have you girls!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
