December Bandsters!

My origanal surgery date was 8/24 but as an unemployed teacher I was offered a job 5 days before and accepted although bitter sweet. My new surgery date is 12/21 and I wish it was sooner but atleast I will have 14 days over Christmas Break to rest and heal. I am still nervous and having so much time to wait yet again I read some of the horror stories people post and get second thoughts. However I know I will be a happier and healthier me in the long run. Anyone else in the same boat? Having the support system of others has really helped me through.

My surgery is the 15th. I am very excited. I too wished I had done this years ago. The reason I join this group also is for inspiration and to know what to expect. I look forward everyday to getting on here and reading everyone POSITIVE report. I try to stay away from the negatives.

Congratulations on the approval! I was banded on May 25, 2011. I am glad I did. I am losing very slowly, but I have never gained. That is improvement over the past. I have gone from obese to overweight. My blood pressure medication is down from four per day to two. The goal is no medication!

Keep us informed as you prepare for surgery and after.

Hi guys. My surgery was on the 10th of Dec but moved it to next week but it think will move it to after the holidays.....please share your post op experience as I really need encouragement. Good luck to all.

I have mine done 12/22. I am excited about my new journey. Good luck to everyone, we can do this!

I was also banded on 12/6. I have a 10cc lap-band.

I was allowed my first purée today and I chose applesauce. I didn't finish the 3oz. I was just done after about 1.5oz.

Tomorrow is my first day back at work. I'm a little worried about the gas because I'm a teacher. I'm sure I'll have the kindergarteners on hysterics. I already have my entire menu for tomorrow set aside. For breakfast is a bolthouse farms

Protein drink.

Morning snack is 4oz small curd cottage cheese. Lunch is puréed black beans. Afternoon snack will likely be applesauce or protein drink. Dinner is homemade potato soup.

I'm so excited to move away from clear liquids! Yay!

Hello everyone,

I'm scheduled to have a lap band w/plication on Dec 19th. I'm on day 3 of my pre-op diet, I'm starting to crave all the sweets I used to eat!! Physically, I'm not hungry, but emotionally I could eat Christmas cookies all day!! Hope everyone is having better luck than me!!

I got banded on 12/6 I had lost 16 pounds on the pre-surgery diet. But gained 11 pounds the 36hrs in the hospital. I was 278 the day I got home from the hospital. I know it had to do alot with swelling and the IVs today I am 262. Most of the swelling is down.

Up and down with the pain. Not a lot of engery, not sure how I am going to make it through my first day of work tomorrow. I have no desire to eat at all. Have to force myself to drink a protien drink and a 1/4 cup cream of wheat a day. Plus forcing myself to drink a lot of Water. I actually had tomato soup today to so that helped since today I actually had hunger pains.

I am still pretty bruised up, but figure those will take about a week or more to fade. Over all I am doing a lot better then I had expected.

Was banded on 12/8 doing pretty good... alittle pain but not nearly as bad as i thought it was going to be.. I am home and moving around pretty good..... drinking fluids and taking it one day at a time... Good luck to all you getting banded this week...

Hi Fellow Banders!

I am getting ready for surgery in 11 days! I have had my pre op physical and will have the final weigh in and pre op teaching on Wednesday. After 6 months of preparing...I am almost there!

Isn't that the best feeling!! Knowing that finally you have this tool to help you do what you have been trying to accomplish your entire life alone!! I am one week post op and am finally feeling like myself today. I really haven't lost much since my surgery though, I think I haven't been drinking enough water, it's much harder to drink the water I normally drink. I guess cause I get full so quick. Oh well slow and steady wins the race!

Good luck to all having surgery this week!

I had my pre op testing on Thursday I had a EKG and a Chest x-ray then on Friday I had blood work done because nobody told me I would need to get blood work done that day and needed to be fasting for the blood work to be done but no biggie got it done early the next day then went Christmas shopping only to get home and hear a message on my answering machine from the hospital for me to call them as I need to come in for pre anesthesia testing good lord why can't they get this all down at once so you don't have to keep making trips back into the city which I would not mind but its a 2 1/2 hour drive one way for me and I work so I have to ask for time off and have done so twice in the last two weeks which they have given me but Iam worried they will start asking me why and whats going on and I had not planned to tell anybody at work ,*sigh* so will call this morning and ask what more do I need to give them and how soon do I have to give it to them I sure hope this still happens for me on Dec 19th starting to make me worry.
