  1. have found papaya enzyme tablets very helpful with stucks they taste good and work fast nobody likes getting stuck and if you can't get it up then get them down they will work fast
  2. I use centrum chewables for women I could not find them in any of the stores around me so I went to my favorite online drugstore www.drugstore.com and they of course had them so I ordered them and I chew one every morning with my protein shake they have a nice citrusy taste to them and some of the liquid ones made me gag so Iam happy I found them online.
  3. I was banded this past Monday so today was the 7th day post op and I had a piece of steak the size of 50 cent piece cut in tiny bites and chewed till it was mush O had a tablespoon of mashed potatoes eaten in tiny bites and a half of a dinner roll eaten in tiny bites and chewed to mush and I sipped a half a glass of sparkling apple cider the only side effect was a healthy burp a while later when I was washing dishes and Iam comfortably full and have no desire for any of the goodies lying about if this is as bad as December get for me then I got this since I started on the pre op diet till now I have lost a total of 35 lbs and really feel like Iam finally on my way to the last lifestyle change I will ever need in my life my motto will be small and slow for the win !
  4. Hello Jana I was banded 12/19/11 and where I had no complications Iam worried for you if your not feeling better or seeing any improvement tomorrow I think you should call your Dr never wait on anything that worries you and always be proactive when it comes to your health. I hope to hear that things are getting better for you very soon.
  5. I was banded Monday Dec 19th at 7:30 am I live over two hours away from the hospital where I was having it done so I hopped on priceline and got a awesome deal at the Sheraton all suites Inn for 47.00 just one block away from the surgery center we went out and watched the Sherlock Homes movie that evening and I had Tuscany pizza for dinner it is my favorite thing to have then we went back to the hotel and asked for a 5am wake up call and went to bed I slept like a baby till the phone went off the next morning I got up and showered and dressed in baggy sweats and my socks and slippers because I was planning to wear them for the ride home we left for the hospital and arrived right on time we sat in the lobby for a few minutes and when they called me back I told my son to go on back to the hotel and sleep till they call you and tell you Iam ready to go because he was driving me home and I wanted him well rested. I was given a lovely designer blue hospital gown to put on they obviously expected a much larger person because the gown just swallowed me up then the nurse came back in and starting getting vitals and asking me all kinds of question to which I said No to nearly everyone and she smiled and said well your very healthy, and I said Yes Iam Iam just fat and Old and since I can't do anything about the old Iam going to fix the fat part. the anesthesiologist was next in line he came in to ask his question to which I said NO to and he said don't worry about a thing in there Iam going to take very good care of you and then he left the nurse came back and I told if by some chance everything went wrong and I did not wake up I wanted them to know they could take any and all of my organs for transplants she asked if I had a living will I told I did on file with my doctor but that she had passed away in the past years so I had no idea where it was now. The Doctor came in to check up on me and went over everything again I also told him to take any and all of my useable organs if anything went wrong he asked if my family was aware of my wishes and I told him yes they were and they were in agreement with me .He said well thats good to know but I hope it is knowledge I never need to use, Then he said he was going to go change into scrubs and get scrubbed in and he would see me in the OR then the nurse was back with the happy shot to go in my IV I barely remember being slide from the gurney to the table and I was out ,the next thing I knew I was in recovery and the nurse was talking to me asking if I need to go potty I said yes and she asked did I want to walk to the bathroom or should she get a bedpan I said I would walk and so she walked to the restroom and I was able to take care of myself just fine she walked me back to the bed and said try to sleep a little more and I will watch when you need to get ready to go home. I slept a while and then she came back with my overnight bag and I got myself dressed and she said my son was on his way and I could come sit in a chair by the back door till he arrived. when he got there she walked out with me and helped me get in the car and settled and he drove me home and dosed off and on the whole way got home and settled into my big comfy chair and dosed off and on the rest of the day I took my pain meds as instructed that day and that night so i slept pretty good on my back even though Iam a side sleeper I was wide awake at 3am so I just got up and got some juice to drink and a little cup of yogurt and I sipped my way through the rest of the day and I took a long hot shower that night and went to bed about 8pm and I found if I moved slowly I could sleep on my side so I did with one pillow against my tummy and I slept so good it was great Had my first protein shake this morning for breakfast and Iam having a Gatorade and some jello for a snack now my Dr said I could try mushies at the end of the week so Iam saving it for Christmas Day and Iam going to have some garlic roasted mashed potatoes And so there you have thats my story and Iam feeling better every day and expect to be in great shape when I go back to work Jan 3rd
  6. check on ebay also I have seen them there as well
  7. I hope by the time I go back to school on Jan 3rd I will be down 20 pounds and when people ask how I made it through Christmas and didn't gain weight Iam just going to say " I get by with a little help from my friends :-)"
  8. Gas-X seems to be working for me I chewed two yesterday afternoon after getting banded that morning and chewed two more at bedtime woke up a lot less bloated and I can feel what Gas is left moving around inside I would love to pass gas as I hear it is a wonderful feeling after surgery as for the hiccups best cure I know of is to drink some water through a paper towel take a small glass fill with water lay paper towel over the top and drink through the paper my biology teacher taught us this when I was in high school century's ago and it always worked
  9. I think everyone here knows they can lose the weight without the band they also know without the band they will just gain it all back and then some and that is why we are all here to break that cycle of lose and gain for the last time I got my band Monday and I have never been more sure about having done the right thing in my life.
  10. I was banded Monday morning and it all went very smoothly and Iam betting yours will to and yes you will have some pain and discomfort but that only lasts for a couple of days and you will be your old self again in no time.So I say there is no reason at all to be nervous you only need to feel a sense of taking your life back and doing something wonderful for yourself I was very calm about it myself the only sense I had was one of urgency to get my house all cleaned up and perfect before I left so I could just concentrate on relaxing and recovering when I got home I already feel as if it was totally worth it and you have a wonderful family of support here with people who know exactly what your going through and can help with just about any question you may have.
  11. This morning is my last morning as an overweight person tomorrow morning at this time I will break on through to the other side and begin my journey to a happier and healthier person Iam not even a little bit nervous and that surprises me Iam just so ready to do this I can't even think of words to express how much Iam looking forward to doing this and I know that having this website to come to and all of you people to read about and learn from has made all the difference and I thank you all for that I have had all my questions answered and gotten awesome ideas for how to live once Iam banded and gained a wealth of knowledge about what Iam about to do and I really feel that is the reason Iam so confident and calm about all this and that is the best gift I will get this holiday season no matter whats under the tree.So for that I just really want to thank all of you here and my wonderful new Facebook family and support group "Banded Together" you just can't know what a difference your making in peoples lives :-)
  12. I was scheduled to be banded by Dr Schwartz on Dec 20th but he has decided to leave town and didn't bother to tell me he had cancelled my surgery I found out when I called to see about scheduling my pre op appointment and was told that even though he was going to be there till Jan 1st he had opted to not do anymore surgeries and had referred his patients to Dr Monash I called them right away and got in that week and lucky for me they were able to keep my surgery date and I have to say working with them is light years better than working with Dr Schwartz's office I really feel I was so lucky to have Dr Schwartz decide to not do any more surgeries.I could not be happier with my change in doctors.I feel a lot more comfortable with my new Dr you may ask why I did change sooner the answer is I really did not want to have to start all over again and I wasn't sure they would not make me as it turns out they would not have but just the same Iam delighted to be where Iam now.
  13. Iam right there with you 9:30 am Monday I will be officially banded for life and moving to a happier healthier me see you on the other side Band Buddy :-)
  14. Iam sure the stomach problems are from over indulging but it sounds to me as if you may also picked up a cold or flu bug as well but if you want to be sure call your Dr and tell them what you are experiencing and ask if you have only just over indulged or if you might have a cold coming on as well
  15. Definitely call your Dr and go in and let him examine you you may have pulled your port loose or you band may have been pulled lower on your stomach or even slipped off you just can't know for sure and since your in pain don't wait get it looked at asap
