    December Bandsters!

I got banded on 12/6 I had lost 16 pounds on the pre-surgery diet. But gained 11 pounds the 36hrs in the hospital. I was 278 the day I got home from the hospital. I know it had to do alot with swelling and the IVs today I am 262. Most of the swelling is down. Up and down with the pain. Not a lot of engery, not sure how I am going to make it through my first day of work tomorrow. I have no desire to eat at all. Have to force myself to drink a protien drink and a 1/4 cup cream of wheat a day. Plus forcing myself to drink a lot of Water. I actually had tomato soup today to so that helped since today I actually had hunger pains. I am still pretty bruised up, but figure those will take about a week or more to fade. Over all I am doing a lot better then I had expected.

    Day 1 Post Op

Well you are a little more mobile then me and I had my surgery on Tuesday. I am having more issues with pain then anything, as in I have a really bad headache. But that could be due to no driniking enough water. Keep up the good work
  3. I had surgery on Tuesday and still in pain. But not as bad, every time I wake up it seems a little better. I am lucky I don't have gas pains. I do know I am bloated because my feet are swollen and I put on 10 pounds at the hospital. But as of today I am down 6 pounds. Stay postive. We did the right thing, just going to take a while for our bodies to adjust to the trama we just puth them through.

Unfortunatley everyone around me is coming down with the flu! I just hope I got the right flu shot and don't come down with it. Good luck everyone!
  6. He may not be jealous. It may be that he is afraid of you leaving him behind. He might be even depressed about his weight gain and feels helpless. Hopefully he will come around and be supportive again.

    Starting The Journey

My dr provided me a link for a variety of protien drinks, some are not even milk based. I have not heard of the the Yonanna Machine but it sounds like something I might like to have in my kithen. Good luck! Lytha

    December Bandsters!

My surgery date is 12/6/11 the day after my husband's birthday. We celebrated it early since he understood I was a little restricted on the date due to work. My Pre-surgery diet has gone well, day 5 and I am down 14 pounds (think I peed it out). Thanksgiving was not as bad as I thought it would be, I was already on the pre-surgery diet for 2 days by then. I nibbled but nothing more. Didn’t really want anything. Good luck everyone! Lytha

    12 days Pre-Op
  12. I have been considering WLS for a few years now. Obesityruns on both sides of my family. I struggled with my weight has a teenager andnever really felts comfortable in my own skin. Being harassed about my weighton a daily basis from school and family didn’t help my self-esteem either. Ilost enough weight after graduating high school and enlisted in the Navy were Iwas borderline weight standards the whole 6 years. My weight increased after my enlistment, yet I really had no health issues relatedto my weight until the last few years. I thought about options for years, butwas always afraid of going forth with WLS. I have seen people who had great resultsfrom the various types of WLS, but I have also seen them fail. I have also beenaround people who have express that WLS is the "lazy way out" funnythese people never struggled with their own weight so how could they know? I finally decided to have WLS and researched my options and decided with LapBand. The surgeon I am seeing was recommended by a few friends. I have beenhappy with him and his staff so far. I began this journey in June/2011. I wouldhave had my surgery approved sooner if I had not changed/added my primary insuranceand had to wait for my cards and their approval. My surgery is 12-6-11. The day after my husband’s birthday. Due to my exposure with people that had negative opinions about WLS I wanted tohide it at first. Then I realized why? This is for me, if I want the acceptmyself well "These people" would have to accept me and my choice too.I have had an overwhelming amount of support from the few co-workers, friendsand family I told prior to getting my surgery date. Now that I have the date, I have told the rest of my friends and family.Nothing negative. All of them very supportive. Even a few were relieved I hadfinally made the decision. And so my journey begins........

    united health care

I just joined Untied on Sept 1. I found out I was approved for surgery on last week (on Oct 15) The major delay was getting my cards. I had already jumped through hoops for Tricare and got approval from them.
  14. I was appproved through Tricare, then I did a genious move my enrolling in my new company's Health Care, so I had to wait about 30 days to get my insurence cards. I was approved by both. I know a number of people who were approved for Tricare on their BMI alone. Good luck.

    PrincessMIri's Introduction

Hi, Princess MIri I have not had my surgery yet. Hope to see you more on future boards.
  17. Good luck with your surgery. Mine is scheduled for 12-6-11. A little nervous as well. Like yourself I was going to hide the surgery from my family, friends and co-workers. But one day as I sat at my desk staring at the calander trying to figure out hwo I was going to explain my absense and sudden change in lunch... It dawned on me... I would not be hiding it from anyone. I took my manager aside and told him what my surgery would be for, he then proceeds to gush with support and informed me that 2 years ago his wife had gastro bypass. I later told a handful of friends and my children. And now with ther surgery date I came out of the closet so to speak. I have so much support. It is kind of shocking. I guess my point is for me I descided not to hide it, I wanted the support. Hence why we are here huh? Good luck! I look foward to undertaking this life changing journey with you! Lytha
