  1. I was in the same boat you are. I dropped my calories down to 900, eat sugar free jello and pudding for snacks, and walk atleast 3 miles a day. then the pounds started coming back off again.
  2. You are doing excellent! I have lost 30 in 8 weeks so I am sooo jealous. I really wanted to get to the 40 pound mark by my 2nd month. But I go today and pray she will give me a second fill. I have only had one and that was only 2 ccs. Good luck and keep us posted!

Thanks everyone for the input, I appreciate it! Here is a link to the fat turning into muscle myth. http://www.healthguidance.org/entry/865/1/Can-Fat-Turn-Into-Muscle-Or-Muscle-Into-Fat.html
  4. I was banded on Dec 7th. and have lost 30 pounds since surgery day. I really, really REALLY want to hit 40 by Feb 7. Keeping a track of 20 pounds per month. I am busting butt excersizing. Do you think IM doing too much? I walk 3 miles on level 6-7 on the treadmill every weekday. On weekends I hit the hiking trail and increase every hike by 1 or 2 miles. I did an 8 mile hike today in 2 hours 30 min. No big deal, Im not looking for great times, just the fact that I did the darn thing. Only took in 800 calories today with 90 gms of protein, and my scale has not moved. WTHeck! I know, I know, my husband says my body is transitioning the fat to muscle... Im getting tired of hearing about that. Maybe I should layoff walking so much? Can I have some feedback? December bandsters.. where are you with weightloss and excerisize? My daytime job is at a bank, so I sit at a desk most of the day. What do I need to do differently?
  5. wow! what a tough time you have gone thru and to stay on track... BRAVO!!! you have done extrememly well ! Keep up the good work, prayers out to your family for your little girl . And dont worry Little Roo is watching over yall in kitty heaven. I just put down my 15 year old Retriever, Colby, I may as well been burying my child. Couldnt believe how much I cried. Things will get better, just keep looking toward the summer and that awesome new swimsuit you get to slide into! Have a great day!
  6. my dr said the same thing, eat the dark meat part of the chicken. its not as hard to get down. Congratulations on your success! I was banded on 12/7 and I am down 28 trying very hard to reach my goal of 40 by Feb 7. Got boat season coming up in May and I with an avg of 20 per mth, I will be able to get a nice swimsuit. Good Luck and keep up the great work!

  8. I had my first fill on the 12th also. I had to lower my calories to 800 to lose any.The scale hasnt moved much but I can tell that I have lost inches. I am told that my body is losing the fat and gaining the muscle from the excersize, muscle weighs more than fat and thats why no decrease in scale. I walk 3 miles every day with hills and 5 miles on sat and sun. I know how it affects your motivation, so Im right there with ya! maybe try to drop the calories down to 900 and see if that helps. I know if I eat 1000 I cant lose. Good luck!
  9. mushies= slightly runny mashed potatoes with "i cant believe its butter", oatmeal, protein shakes, scrambled eggs, maybe some tuna salad with light mayo ( not on bread).
  10. Congratulations and welcome to the other side! Look forward to seeing your posts on how well you are doing!

Congratulations and great work! Thats where I want to be on my 2 months. I was banded on Dec 7 and lost 23 but the last 2 weeks have been stuck. I got my first fill yesterday of 2ccs and Im excited to start losing again. Thanks for the shout out, it helps with others confidence levels! :-)
  12. I dont think you are suppose to have protein shakes until like day 5, ck with your doctor. But I found that hot apple cider help me tremendously. you can find it next to the hot cocoa mixes. I used both the regular and the sugar free. Lots of gasx chewables also or mylanta gas. I ate that like m&ms, but it helped with the pain. Good Luck and welcome to the other side! :-)
  13. I went for my first fill today, my dr said sign of too much of a fill are if the water just sits in your throat, if you vomit, or if you have heart burn. sounds definitly like you need to have a little taken out.
  14. Dear Itray, I too was banded on Dec 7. as of Dec 20th( which was my first post op visit) I had lost 23 pounds and then gained 4 of it back over the holidays. I did not get a fill on my first post op visit because i was eating about 1/2 cup of food and I was feeling full and satisfied. Well that quickly changed when the next couple of weeks came around, even though I stayed pretty closed to my 1100 calorie diet. When I ate, I was okay for about a couple of hours and then I was hungry again. I tried to always keep a sugar free jello, or a yogurt on hand to kill the appetite. Today was my 2nd post op visit and the dr was happy that I had only gain 2 pounds. She said everyone is different in their healing stages and that if I was getting hungry between meals, it was time for a fill. so I got 2 ccs, which she said is standard on the first fill. I get only liquids today, but since I had nothing on my stomach earlier, I ate 1/2 cup of runny protein oatmeal when I got home around 3. and I felt great! I figured I needed something in my stomach if I was going to walk my 3 miles at the gym. Keep strong! its a healing process the first 6 weeks. When is your next dr visit. Oddly enough when I weighed tonight I acutally lost the 2 pounds today! I use myfitnesspal.com to track everything I eat, even a cracker and my exercise. I do 3 miles every day ( 1 hour walk) Good luck! I hope this helps you!

  18. I wasnt allowed to have any shakes or milk until day 5 of my surgery. Your stomach is still healing and it is too hard on it. It was too hard for me to drink cold stuff anyway. What got me thru was the hot apple cider mix. It was warm to my tummy and helped satisfy me. I would make it as hot as I could drink it. I would one in the morning and one in the evening. you can usually find it next to the hot cocoa mix. They have it in sugar free also. Hang in there it wont be long and you can have protein soups, they are thin and wil be very helpful.
  19. Mee tooo! I had like a tablespoon of mac and cheese, dressing, green beans, and a small slice of turkey. My saucer looked so empty. My husbands plate was so full he couldnt put rolls on top!! I laughed at them and said I think they need to try to eat like me so they will know what its like. It was plenty, I did not overeat and yes I am on my second glass of wine!!! Happy New Year to you!!
