  2. once you start eating foods again, things will be much better. this is bandster hell, having to eat mushy, soft foods while everyone else pigs out on whatever is hard. but think of it like this, they are eating huge quantities of food and now you won't be, therefore you will be losing weight. don't give up! you are still really new! it will get better.

  5. i still love my band, i am one year out now, and lost 55 lbs now. do i wish it was more, of course. but i am happy with my weightloss and my decision. i personally would not want the sleeve, not in agreement with having half my stomach removed, but hey to each their own. you are going to find negativity with everything out there. some have band failures because of the band itself, others it is because they chose to not eat like they should have in the first place. i have learned to not let the haters get to me
  6. I am not hungry at all in the mornings, so I have a protein shake first thing after my morning coffee so i get 1/2 my protein for the day immediately. usually for lunch is tuna, chicken or egg salad. for dinner, i am a crockpot cooker i find recipes that are band friendly, and kid friendly too. i make sure i get my protein in first, then my veg and some starch. i drink water throughout the day too. you will get it soon. it takes some time. go to lapband.com and there are some recipes on there for all stages.
  7. might need a slight unfill. it is amazing just taking out a tiny amount will feel soooo much better. i had to have one done a month ago and it felt so good. i wasn't so dang tight that it hurt. i had only 0.2cc taken out and it was great, instant relief.
  8. Dr. Malley is part of that Network who accepts patients from other surgeons. he is in Overland park and his staff and him are awesome. Not sure how much fills and visits are.

nope, you are not alone. i am 10 months out now, lost 52 lbs, but down 5 dress sizes. i still have that big plate mentality, will probaly always have it unfortunately. i am tight in the mornings and lunch, so i usually cant eat much then. i have a protein shake in the morning, and for lunch is usually tuna or chicken salad, something soft but filling. at dinner is when my band is looser and i can ea with no problems. i drink warm tea or coffee and that helps with the tightness.

  11. you did not fail. you just need to start over with the basics. chalk it up to a lesson learned and start again. yes you have 85 lbs to go, but you have lost 45 so far. that is not failure.

  16. listen to your trainer. you are burning fuel and then you have none left essentially. try some greek yogurt before a workout or a smoothie. you work out more, you burn more, you eat more. you will lose more inches than lbs, there is an almost 2 month "lag time" from inches lost to lbs lost. but it will catch up. i have been told and read that eating more protein will help you lose the weight as it builds muscle.
  17. i am a respiratory therapist, a lot of walking. i took off a week and did just fine.
  18. wait, this is YOUR decision, not his. do the research and do the surgery that you want and that you feel is best for you. My surgeon does not do the gastric bypass because most people gain all the weight back and he feels it is not successful. he does the banding and the sleeve and says that is up to the patient. did he give the reasons why he feels the band is a better choice? maybe you should consult with another surgeon. I am very happy with my band. but i have a friend who had the sleeve and she has been very successful. everyone is different. it is a tool, not an instant weight loss. yes there are people who are not successful at the band. make a list of the pros and cons of each and go from there. talk to people who have had the band or sleeve. wishing you the best
  19. i always have after my fill, good protein.
  20. yep. 1/2 cc can make a difference. i had to have 0.4 cc taken out cause i was way too tight and wow, i felt so much better. still have good restriction but not so much i am uncomfortable.
  21. I too was banded in April 2011 and am down 52 lbs, but 5 dress sizes and am happy with that. I am losing it slowly but that is okay. my doctor and nurse are happy with my progress and so am i! i would not change it for anything. I have had to have a slight unfill last week for the 1st time. Caught a cold, under alot of personal stress right now, so i got too tight. took not even 1/2 cc out and i feel so much better. i can eat but still have good restriction. Yes i have had my vomiting episode, that was not very pleasant and some PB and slime, but i would get the band again if i had to do it over. my doctor stiches the band in place too so the slips are less likely. I love my band!
  22. sometimes it can take up to 2 weeks for you to feel the effects of a fill. it took me 2 weeks to feel the effect of my fill in December, and my nurse was hesitant of doing it cause i am almost maxed out on my fills. i went in last week for my reg checkup and i told her how uncomfortable i was and she took out 0.4 cc and i was amazed at how much better i feel. i still have restriction, but not tight where i am uncomfortable. the weather changes affect some people too. i know when it is really cold or that time of the month, i get tight.

  24. some people just don't think about how it mentally affects you. my family felt so guilty about eating in front of me 4 days post op, they didn't want to. LOL! but i was fine with it as i was not hungry at all!
