Four weeks banded and am constantly hungry

I do nothing but eat

No restriction as have not had a fill yet

Weight has definitely went on since prep diet.

I do take protein shakes and anything else I can get my hands on

I think it must be the liquid vitamins and at the moment I could get any tablet down

Please advise

My Doctor told me that it is 3 weeks after surgery that you go for your first fill? When are you due to follow up? Im still waiting on surgey date.

You have to practice some will power. Yes a fill will help when you are able to get one, but I fill doesn't keep you from eating. It may make you fuller but it isn't going to keep you from putting food in your mouth. Maybe portion out what you eat, eat that, and then no more. Go somewhere or do something where food isn't on your mind/in sight.

Absolutly true. Its not a means to an end the band. You still need to what what you are eating and take control. Its all about will power. Why go through all that you have done, only to be the same way. POINTLESS!!!. I know its hard but do the hard work now and you will see the benefits later on and ONLY YOU CAN DO IT. Good luck

You have to have some control over your eating the band is not going to control that and yes even at proper restriction you can still eat. You have to take some initiative and stop stuffing yourself just because you can. Eat three meals a day and thats it. If you need to snack dont op for Protein shakes because they will not help you. If your not going to take some responsiblity of what you put in your mouth then why go through all the agony of surgery. You can get 10cc's full and if you dont make the right food choices your are not going to lose weight. Find something to do with your time other than obsess about food. You have to get your self under control because if you dont you can get all the fills in the world and still eat only in smaller increments. You will still eat the wrong things. It doesnt matter how people feel life style change or diet it is all the same you have to control your urge to eat constantly. Find something to do with your time other than think about food.

It not that I am stuffing my self constantly it just I can eat as before. I don't snack but I cook for my family and feel they have to have a good dinner everynight.

I not a sweet eater but love my bread cheese spuds and butter But have cut down greatly due to circumstance s as a full time carer I would say it the sedatary life style

With not exercising enough

Going to start to day with some gently exercises

Got my first fill and my port is in my sternum, I think I would have like it in my tum but it done.

Port had flipped so not agood first fill the pain of turning it on my breast bone was agony

But two days since and alot of pain killers as feel I have a constant ache in my cleavage now

But I read other messages and I will get through it and remain positive

I don't eat a lot of breakfast lunch would be a salad or a nimble bread sandwhich and low fat yogurt

Night time alway was my problem I know worse time to eat

I have stew or some form ofpotatoes and veg a little meat not a big meat eater and have a bowl which is a bout two cups full and then at bed time I have a low fat custard or yogurt or sometimes both

I wish that everyone on this site would quit being so condescending. Negativity on this site is not the answer. I wish everyone would stop assuming that you just can't stop eating because you have no self-control. Let the doctor tell you that not another patient. I am having the exact same problem that you are and so I know what you are talking about. I am on my fourth week of my lap band. I have lost 16.5 pounds and have gained back 1.5 since last week. I am able to eat whatever I want and my stomach doesn't reject anything. I have been fine for the first three weeks and then all of a sudden it is like I never had the surgery. I haven't been to the doctor yet--I go on Monday. I can't believe that this is normal for the fourth week. I know I have to watch what I eat but even after I eat I am still hungry. I don't know what the problem is.

It is not negativity, it is advice you are just taking it wrong. I lost weight during this stage because I used self control. The lap band is not a magic pill for weight loss, it takes a lot of work on our part to loose the weight. I to can still pretty much eat what I want, I just choose not to because I love watching the numbers on the scale go down! Good luck and I hope your attitude improves.

I dont think you will be nearly as hungry or able to eat as much once you get a fill. I think this is pretty standard for the first month after surgery. I am only two weeks out but I can already feel the hunger creeping back up.

I'm with reverie on this one. Just because you can eat more, doesn't mean you should. You need to take good care of your stoma right now as you are healing.

If you *can* eat anything, then eat some really dense highly nutritious foods. If you're hungry try increasing your Water intake.

This was an incredibly difficult time for me...the bandster hell...it will end...promise.

I can remember being told by the doctor after my band was fitted that quite often u can put a few pounds back on till u start getting your fills, i didnt because i restricted what i was eating, but it evidently is a common occurance that u might regain your appetite till u get your fills going.

My port is also on my sternum, i really dont mind it there at all but since losing the weight i have it sticks out a little now but i dont really take much notice of it now. I had read some posts that if its in the stomach and u lose a lot of weight and wear something tight u can see it so maybe the sternum isnt such a bad site to have for a port.

You are still healing tho so please be careful, common sense and moderation are the key to healing properly.

I was eating exactly what I was supposed to be eating but I would get very hungry so I knew exactly what she is talking about--unlike yourself. This week I am back to normal and I am not so hungry so it was something temporary and could have been hormonal.

Exactly, at some point your appetite gets larger but the lap band will keep you from overeating. Just keep eating/drinking lots of Protein because this is what will fill you up.

You also have to watch how much you eat at one time because this can cause the lapband to slip. Sticking to Proteins will fill you up without a lot of food.

You are exactly right. They say when you can eat more than you normally do then you might need a fill.

LOL you are funny I have one of the best atittudes around. You do not understand what I was saying. By the way I eat every two hours because of hunger. Oh that's right you said I did not know what she was talking about.....hmmmmmmmmmm ok if you say so. By the way I do eat about every two hours,about 6 times a day. With the exercise I get I am hungry a lot and my body responds with good weight loss. I hope your attitude does improve and you come to understand what people are trying to say.
