I'm nervous about the liquid diet. I have a really I'm portent business meeting the 2nd day. It goes all day Breakfast lunch & dinner are provided. I don't know how I'm gonna manage. They always have an amazing spread I'm hoping the have Soup & I can have the broth...

Good luck on your diets you two should do fine.

Other than that meeting Tuesday I'm excited my best friend ( who has a great figure) is gonna do the liquid diet with me to give me moral support. We'vebeen talki what shakes & Protein drinks to get. I was terrified that I cheat & because she will be doing it with me I am so pumped!!!

My best friend is doing it with me too! Boy we have a lot in common! :) don't cheat at ur meeting! U can do it! Its only one day compared to the rest of ur life! U may have to eat more than liquids, but u can still eat small portions of healthy food anywhere. I believe that, so don't punish yourself with food. That's what my therapist tells me! Its no longer a reward at this point.

That's exactly what I was thinking I might order chicken push it around the plate to act like I'm eating then bring it home to my boyfriend!! I've been eating like crazy the past few weeks. Last night we went out to dinner and I just sat there and thought I'm over it! I'm over food, I love to cook & go out to dinner but food doesn't hold that same joy as it did! I really feel I am ready for this lifestyle change.

How are the liquid diets going today???

Did your doctor tell you what a good weight range is for you? Mine said because of my height & big boobs realistically 220 is a good weight. Just wondering what yours said since we're same height same weight...

Hey waytoofat,

Congrats on being approved. I am scheduled for feb 7th. I'm so excited & nervous at the same time. I begin my diet on the 24th. I went to bariatriceating.com they have some good drinks on there. I like believe very yummy. Eas myoplex isn't bad, Isopure has an aftertaste but not terrible. I just bought like 10 different drinks and see what I like & don't. I notice the ones people recommend I'm not into different taste buds I guess.

Hopefully we can keep in touch I am also 5'11 & weigh 304.6. My goal weight is between 200-220. I don't want to get too skinny I wanna keep some of my shape and the doctor said realistically I shouldn't be under 200lbs!!!

Again good luck!!

We'll be 2 tall stallions soon!!

I am also scheduled the 7th and start the liquids on the 24th. So many mixed emotions!

Wow talking to you guys has me even more excited!!! I've been browsing the site since November and vie been waiting for my month to come up! We need to make sure we stay in touch no matter successes or failures. I have a great support system with friends and family but it's so reassuring to know others going through the exact same thing.

My pre op appointment is Friday & we're expecting snow until early that morning. I really hope it's not cancelled...

I'm on day 11 of my pre op diet and miss food but have lost 10 lbs, so yay for me! Sciatic nerve pain is kicking my ass, but I'm hoping losing weight will solve that issue. I am totally excited for Tuesday to get here! I am ready for the pain, etc! I feel great that I have done this very restricted diet for several days and can make it 14 days. I feel like I'm in control of my hunger before surgery so having a great tool after will make it even better!

I know I can do this! I think the hardest part is going to be the gas pain and then finding my "sweet spot" where I'm not hungry but still able to lose weight.

I hope all of u are excited, am happy I have u to share my feelings with, and can't wait to see ur pics this summer! Just think! We will be losing this spring and I'm planning on having the best summer ever at the pool!!!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
