I was banded on dec 2. I arrived @ the hospital @ 9am, surgery @ 1030 left for home @ 330. I had a lot of chest pain but not much @ the incisions. Had a lot of nausea even with the patch so was given addtl nAusea meds. Pain meds make me dizzy & nausea and nausea meds give me a headache so two days after surgery I am on tylenol only & chest tightness from gas/swelling is improving. On liquids only for 1 week post op. So far not too bad.

CONGRATULATIONS on you coming to the lapband side! It almost seems the same as my experience with my surgery. Are you in Colorado? I am 3 weeks post up and I feel almost 100% like my old self. Except I am 15 pounds smaller! Good luck with your band. And welcome to the other side. Dee

Banded yesterday and I dont have much pain at all, mostly tenderness in my belly. I had the single incision surgery. The OR time was about 45 min, then around an hour in recovery, then down to get an xray(to make sure everything was placed right) Back to recovery they made me drink some Water and go to the bathroom-then discharged.

I feel good have been walking around the house because its too cold outside. I was not afraid of the surgery, I was more nervous because I work on the campus of the hospital and I dont want everyone to know my business.

My husband worked for a while and my kids were at a party, I was alone and i was fine. The pain meds helped LOL! I have been napping on and off all day. I'm sure looking forward to Monday when I can have more to eat...havent had any real food since Wed night.

I'll keep you posted. Good luck!

I got banded on December 1st, so that makes me on day 3 post op. I've had pain at the incision sites (5) and been very bloated. Been getting Clear Liquids down OK but tried to sip on a protien drink and the first sip made me feel over-full and gave me horrible heartburn. I am taking the phenergan every 4 hours and still feel the need to vomit. I can only walk around for a few minutes at a time. I have tomorrow to rest and then back to work on Monday......please, wish me luck, say a prayer, something to help me thru the work day.

Cathy

I was banded 12/2/10. Now on day 5 and started pureed foods..How much in oz per meal...One cup pureed cream of wheat mixed with skim milk= 12oz puree mix. I can't find any information referencing how many oz per meal.

Someone please respond....I've checked every entry so far about post lapband, but nothing referencing how much to eat /pureed.....not even a recipe.

thanks

I was banded on 12/2/10 and my surgeon required an overnight stay in the hospital. I wasn't allowed any liquids at all the day of surgery and then the day after surgery I had an upper GI to make sure everything was in the right place and then had to drink some Water over time to make sure I could keep it down. Then I was released. So far, I don't have much pain other than at the port site and even then it is not extremely painful. I have had gas pains but they are hanging out in my stomach/diaphragm area. I have been walking several times a day to try to help get the gas out.

I have to work on Monday but I can work from home if I want to and I will most likely do that.

A thread for december 2010 bandsters post op

I was banded Dec 2nd, in Ontario Canada. I want to know if my symptoms are normal. It's now three days after the surgery and here's what I'm experiencing: Bloated, severe indigestion, wake up every 2 - 3 hours during the night with severe, shooting indigestion pain. Sometimes during the night this pain makes me feel like I'm going to vomit but after getting up and standing it seems to pass. Indigestion pain, or gas pain (I hear two stories for what this could be) shoots into my collarbone, particularly the left side. My port is swollen and noticeable and painful. It's bearable but even when I walk I feel it move and hurt.

When I drink anything, usually early in the day, any swallowing tends to be painful. This subsides during the day but perks up again later in the evening. When just resting during the day, I will be hit with these indigestion or gas pains randomly. Sitting straight up seems to help more.

Is this all normal or should I be concerned? When should I expect it to pass?

Realize Band surgery on 12/1/10. I'm 4 days post-op and have been getting my liquids and Protein liquids down great. I've been walking around my house, folding laundry and trying to stay active. My scale at home is not that accurate but I believe I've lost 8 lbs...92 more to go! I go back to work tomorrow, but I have a desk job so it should be OK. I've had some indigestion pains and soreness in my abdomen, but otherwise things are going great! Glad to find this support group to help me thru this!

Hello

I was banded December 3 in Toronto. Everything went ok, they also repaired a medium sized hernia. I am still on strictly clear fluids only until Wednesday this week. The pain which I assume is the gas pain people talk about is the worst part of this recovery. There are a lot of things that make it hurt more, like laughing, crying and bending over. The pain is in my chest, neck and shoulders. Wish it would go away. I go back to work tomorrow. I get the odd hiccup which is also painful.

Wishing everyone a very speedy recovery :)

mountaingirlICO - thank you SO much for your words. It feels VERY reassuring to know that someone else is experiencing the same things. I'm glad to know that this is normal. That's the best reassurance right now.

Take care.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
