I did not puree any meats. I did puree tuna, cream of mushroom Soup and pea soup. I also pureed red Beans w/Progresso Tomato and Basil soup. I was able to have mashed taters and scrambled eggs. I also had some baby food.< /p>

Baby food was just Cereal and one jar of peaches. It did not keep me filled for too long, that's whay it was only once with a 2oz serving. I drink Unjury 3 times a day. Part skim ricotta cheese, eggs, and Beans. I do get all the Protein in.

hey i am new to blogging so I'm not sure when you posted. I had my surgery the 20th. are you still on liquids? I only had to be on liquids for a week, then puree, then soft, finally solid. I was just wondering if its different by doctor.

I was banded on the 20th. The first week I lost about 12lbs. tuesday I will be at three weeks and I havent lost another pound. I actually gained one. Talk about wanting to throw the scale through the window. i am on soft food I eat between six and nine hundred calories per day. I walk three to four times per week. I don"t get all 64oz of Water in but prob 40 or more. i am on or real close to my Protein. Talk about frustrating!!

I havent had to do the puree as long as you are doing but I still revert to puree at night most of the time..Im only 3.5 weeks out. Otherwise I eat baked tilapia and overcooked mashed broccoli or Beans at nite..My fav puree is a quasi cabbage Soup recipe...small head of cabbage diced, couple carrots sliced, can of tomatoes with juice, 1 can Tomato paste, 3 or 4T chicken base, cover with Water, cook till soft, add cayenne and garlic powder to taste, then puree and put in fridge. I love it. but no Protein so I still drink my protein shot of whey protein.

I am 11 days post op and finally feeling really good. I have been on puree foods since Tue. one week early because I was having trouble getting enough cal. At first it was hard to eat but for the last couple of days I have been able to eat without much problem. I am even getting hungry, I guess the next stage is bandster-hell:smile2:

Sorry about the smoking, Christie. It's hard... but the Chantix helps me keep focused... and my teenage boys are so happy. I pray I can do it. I guess my thought is if I'm already unhappy (no eating), why not be truly miserable and stop smoking also. LOL *But a cigarette with my liquids would surely help! :)

My doc won't let me take Chantix because I've been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. I've heard that it works amazingly though!

Hubby and I are determined to quit again in ONE WEEK! We never should have started again, but I'm weak.

Hey everyone! I haven't had my post-op visit yet, and plan to ask while I'm there in a couple of days, but I'm wondering what advice all of you have been given about moving up from walking to RUNNING?

I never imagined myself wanting to run, but I'm thinking about trying the Couch 2 5K program and am anxious to get started before I lose the motivation!

We're not weak.... we just like our addictions. I made the mistake of posting my smoking status on facebook... now everyone knows! Pressure! *and I don't like pressure!

Good luck. I hope that working with your hubby will help. *I started by only smoking outside and standing.... if that helps. :)

I never imagined myself wanting to run, but I'm thinking about trying the Couch 2 5K program and am anxious to get started before I lose the motivation!

I had my first post-op appointment last week and told my Dr. about setting my first main goal to run a 5K in Nov by using the Couch to 5K program and he said that was fine, but to just keep walking for the first 2 weeks after surgery. After that I could get back to working out depending on how I was feeling, and start the program. I've recruited a couple of friendds and we are planning to do the Austin Race for the Cure the first weekend of November.

 lol i burp all the time and it do leave a funny after taste i cant really say its the Protein because i started drinking them before the surgery and I don't remember having the funny after taste

I have that weird taste. too. I wonder if not Protein if it's still the gas/anesthesia working it's way out. . .my throat still hurts, too! Other than that, I'm beginning to feel more like myself. I was banded July 30th. I guess my doctor progresses to real food quicker. Tomorrow is day 11 and I'm going to mechicanical soft foods. tuna, lean ground meat. . .

Yah!! July Bansters Site!!

I've been feeling pretty good.... and HUNGRY since day 3! Liquids just drop through me. So I drink and pee.... sip... drink and pee... sip... LOL I have another week until I can add something more solid. Skim milk has helped... and the Protein powders. *Who knew you could get sick of chocolate??!!

Stitches are starting to itch... and I have a pain in my right side sometimes...not sure.

**Can you disrupt your port or band by turning over in bed or sitting up.... when you have to use the muscles in your mid-section?***

I want to wear a shirt that says "Don't Poke the Bear ! She gave up Diet Coke, Cigarettes, popcorn, and food this month. It's not gonna' be pretty!"

I feel your pain - no DCoke, cigarettes, popcorn forever. But I've already found the food thing will be ok. I tried a change with the chocolate that was scrumptious and wanted to share w/ you. In a blender put 6oz. of skim milk or lite soy vanilla milk, about 1/3 cup lite vanilla yogurt. Add the scoop of chocolate Protein Powder (I used Nectar) and 1 teaspoon of reduced cal Peanut Butter. Mix and puree. It's so good!!

As far as the turning over in bed, I was afraid of that too. I will sleep on my back and right side, but prop a pillow under me. I don't think you'll hurt anything, but I'd move slowly anyway. It's natural to want to protect that area.

This is HYSTERICAL!! I want to get a shirt like that too...only mine is Diet Pepsi. LOL

I'm also not as strong as you, and I caved on smoking after the surgery. I was doing great pre-surgery, but I started smoking again the day I got home from the hospital. I just needed SOMETHING to do instead of eating....

I haven't smoked, but I'm serious thinking about purchasing a "mechanical" cigarette I heard about. Go look at it: Blu.com. You can get inserts with nicotine at various levels, but none of the tar and other crap they put in cigarettes. Could be an alternative. . .but quitting for good would be better.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
