Congrast!!!! So how long did it take for your Dr's office to submit your paper work to your insurance company???

LOL My Dr's office submitted paperwork in Dec 2009... and then Humana (whom I HATE) their bariatric center made me jump through so many hoops I felt like a poodle! :scared2:

They made me go to ADDITIONAL monthly appointments in Jan, Feb and March, before the approval came. They kept the file in "Pending" for almost 4 months. It ticked me and my PCP off to no end. It was ridiculous. My pre existing conditions of Migraine and STROKE were "outside" their little stupid pre approval lists of morbidity's (go figure). :)

I even had the bariatric nurse tell me when I questioned the appointment in March that she was a salaried employee and didn't have time for me. :cursing:

I have kept my tongue because I don't want to be un-approved, but I will be lodging a complaint after surgery for all the good that it will do... but I am rather torqued about the way it all unfolded..:cursing:

But, I did FINALLY get approval, so I can only bark so loud

I tell you this... from approval to surgery has been lightning fast!

LOL

Hugs,

Heather

Thanks Froggie D....

3 more days and I am officially nervous now. The butterflies in my stomach are real..Mypreop diet has been going really well. I am down 8lbs. Yay!! I can't get any work done b/c I keep watching wls vlogs.. Truly everyone is so different. My biggest worries is recovery since I am a little older. Hopefully, I will be able to get up and move around, lying still is not one of my best activities.

The band is coming just in time for my birthday 4/9...

Hey Bandster Bunnies. I just made my pre-op appointment for the EKG, X-Rays and Blood work. This is going to come up so fast. I'm starting to have doubts about the whole thing.

I am afraid that I'll be nauseous, but unable to throw-up because the band will be too tight. I'm also afraid that I'll just fail at this, like I've failed with the trainer, nutritionist and all my other attempts to keep myself at a healthy weight.

Guess I'm just in a very fearful place today because Im one step closer.

I hope I'm not alone in this.

Scared!

Ravyn

I know just how you feel. Once I got into the process, I was pretty certain the band would work, but I went through a period of time where I was sure I would be the failure, not the band. Afterall, I have failed at losing the weight for many years. :)

Then I started worrying about being too old. I am almost 58 and I just started thinking I would not lose weight. I put out a question about age on this forum and got amazing respones from people up to age 72 who have been sucessful. It really helped.

I got a lot of support from this forum and from my frieds and family and that has helped a lot. I have been corresponding with someone who felt the same way before her band and now a year later, she has lost over 100 pounds and is a size six. :cursing: She says once she got true restriction, it was easy and now she actually forgets to eat some times. She says she was obsessed with food, just like I describe and now she does not think about food constantly. I can't wait.

Hang in there and keep working toward your goal. The odds are with us. It will take work, but the results will be so reinforcing! :cursing:

How very cool. I was banded a year ago on the 2nd of April. God, I remember how scared I was but how excited - you guys really don't know what you are in for - what a phenominal journey this last year has been - I wouldn't change a single thing - the band has given me hope, made me feel alive again and was the best thing I have EVER done for myself. I am so excited for you all - and what this is going to do for you - you won't know yourselves in a years time. I am over 50lb down. I have lost a lot slower than many of my other Bunny bandsters from April - as I LOVE my wine and beer - and they are some seriously empty (but yummy) calories - so it slowed it down a lot. But even still - I feel so much better than I ever thought I would - and the weight is still coming off every week... and I will get there.

My pearls of wisdom.

- Don't be scared about the surgery - I was petrified, but it was so totally fine.

- Follow the doctors directions to the letter with pre-op and post-op diets.

- Chew Chew Chew Chew Chew!!!!!!

- You will be surprised how quickly your body adapts and what you think might be a scary lifestyle where you can't eat steak and bread just becomes normal and you don't care. I couldn't care less now if someone told me I could never eat again - the band just takes the attachment / desire/interest away from food altogether.

- Most importantly - be kind to yourself and welcome to your new life - this is just going to get better from here!!!

Dear Froggy and LingLing - Your words couldn't have come at a better time. It reminded me of my pregnancy 10 yrs ago. The hormones made me crave fresh fruits and veggies. Anything watery with very little sugar was what my body wanted and I didn't even care about cheeseburgers, fries or chocolate. I didn't want it, therefore I didn't even miss it. When others were eating it, I was totally fine with that. I hope the band creates this type of desire in me again. I was the cutest little pregnant girl ever. After my son was born my appetite exploded. It was so weird. And if I tried to deny myself something the cravings seemed to intensify. This makes me think theirs somethng hormonal going on in my body. I am taking all your advice to heart and using it to help me stand strong and fearless (maybe Im just a little scared).

Once again, thanks Fellow Bandster Bunnies! Being here really does help.

My date is April 9th. It's been almost a year since I attended the first information meeting but my insurance company had a lot of requirements. I'm not complaining though - at least insurance is paying for most of it. :)

I need help. I tried an Unjury chocolate Protein Shake and it is disgusting. I can handle Isopure fruity drinks or the whey Protein Shots but chocolate and vanilla shakes gag me I am not a milk drinker either so that doesn't help. What I am wondering is the isopure fruity good enough it has 40g Protein. I just can not handle Protein Shakes. Has anyone found one that is good? I do like carnation instant Breakfast so I guess I could stick with that. Any suggestions would be wonderful. Since the isopure is 40g would it be good to drink half in the morning and half at lunch or does it matter? Thanks guys.

Hi Guys, I have been away for a few days but I am glad to be back. My sister had a baby shower this weekend and I am glad to report that I was able to say no to her beautiful and moist looking starwberry cake. I think that my mind is ready for the band. I use to never say no to cake.

Anyway, the pre-op has been a challenge. I could lie to myself and say I did not cheat, but that would be lying. However, when I strayed off course, it was still within the parameters of the my doctors pre-op diet (just a little xtra). I have lost about 8Ibs.

I am praying that all of us go thru this without any difficulties or complications. U guys are great and can't wait.

Welcome to all New Bandster Bunnies. We are growing.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
