  1. Glad you are feeling better. I think it's smart to wait until your back from Disney to think about a fill. Have a great time, I love it there.
  2. I did medifast a while back ( with limited success, I just couldn't stick to it). The hot chocolate was one of the better hot drinks. I made it with water, I imagine with skim milk it would taste better. I think the suggestion to buy one box and try it is a good one. You may be able to find it on ebay.
  3. I suffer from on again off again deppression. When I am in a deppressed mode I am very unexcited about my weight loss. Infact I start questioning why I am depriving myself. Are you taking medication? Does it need to be adjusted? I have found excersise really helps my mood. Hang in there, I know how tough a deppression is. Best wishes!
  4. I wonder if you need to increase the intensity/duration and or frequency of your workouts. Are you breaking a sweat? You should be. It's fine to start off slow, but you want to keep increasing a bit at a time. Journaling on paper or into a computer program is also great advice. I did it for about the first 4 months after surgery. I stopped when it became second nature to me. Good luck! Try to be patient, that scale will move for sure if you are doing the right things (eating low fat/low carb. and working out).
  5. I agree the feeling is much more "not hungry" rather than "full". It takes a little time, but you'll learn when to stop.
  6. I am very short (4'11") and can now shop in the petite section. What a great feeling. You are doing great, keep up the good work!
  7. You want to have those stiches hanging out removed. I had one and it led to a minor infection- it wasn't a huge deal. As far as low-carb, I did it while I was loosing. I ate about 20 carbs a day-mostly from veggies and berries (berries are low in carbs compared to other fruit). My protein shakes and bars also had a few carbs. I also watched my fat intake very closely. I ate lots of lean protien (still do for maintanance) like chicken and fish. I also like marinated pork loin and bocca burgers. Turkey would also be a good option. I eat nuts (almonds), lowfat cheese sticks, beef jerky for snacks. Good luck to you!
  8. My surgery was very uneventfull. I was sore for a few days, especially when I moved around a lot. There are a few things I wish I had known. One is the hunger you feel until you get a few fills. There is also some hunger inbetween fills as you work your way to your sweet spot. Another thing to know, is that the feeling of fullness is very different. For me it is sometimes an uncomfortable feeling, mostly in my chest (probably when I've eaten too fast). Mostly it's a feeling of not being hungry, rather than "full". I miss the feeling of satisfaction after a fairly large meal, but not so large you feel sick. However, I am thrilled with my band and would do it over in a hearbeat. I lost 107 pounds in about 10 months. I am now working on maintaining. It's normal to feel nervous about any surgery, even a minor one like the band is a serious thing. Good luck to you!
  9. I like hormell chili. If you are doing extremely low carb it won't work. I added it back in once I reached goal. 1C has 20 gms of carb.
  10. Aswome job! You are doing great.
  11. Good for you! I think it's good to acknowledge other signs that your shrinking besides the number on the scale. Keep up the good work.
  12. I totally agree that I would find a different doc. before thinking about bypass. Also, Betsy gave some great advice, keep a log and go in with specific data. I don't understand why they won't give you a fill since your telling them your hungry. My doc. does fills without flouro. and he always listens to me. I have never been refused a fill, although for 2-3 I had to get an unfill afterwards. Good luck to you!
  13. That is great! I know how excited I was to get off my diebeties meds, then high blood pressure and high cholesteral. It's a great NSV!
  14. That's awsome! I was so excited to get off my diebeties medication. You must be thrilled.
  15. My doc. has me on just clear liquids for 24 hours after a fill. Then I can go to solid food. Seems different docs have different guidelines. I would call the office in the morning and check.
  16. I don't think thowing up once means you don't need a fill. Broccolli is a food I cut out since it gave me trouble. Also, as you said, you may have eaten it too fast. I would work on slowing down and see how things go. When it gets closer to your appt. you can decide if you need a fill or not.
  17. I think telling you you may not loose anymore weight was just a warning. If you eat right and excersise you will surely loose weight. Best wishes on your jouney!
  18. You have a great attitude. My nerves kicked in the night before the surgery- couldn't sleep. Best of luck to you, I am sure you'll do great!
  19. I suggest you eat often. Don't let yourself get too hungry, that's when you run into real trouble. I eat 5-6 times a day. Hang in there and I hope you can schedule your surgery soon!
  20. I agree with all the advice above. I wonder if there is a bariatric patient support group in your area. I go to one once a month and find it very helpfull. Good luck to you!
  21. The fill is pretty easy. The doc. will locate the port, use a local and then access the port (the needle is fairly long but you won't feel a thing). I am told liquids for 24 hours then back to solid food. You may have swelling which will make you tight for a few days, then it wears off. Don't sweat it, you'll be fine.
  22. You have every reason to be very proud of yourself. Over a hundred pounds in 9 months is just fantastic. Keep up the good work!
  23. Your first fill seems very normal. It is probably larger than others will be, the port and it's cord need to be filled with saline. I didn't have restriction after the first fill, took me 3. You will be one of the lucky few if you get restriction on the first fill. Just know it will happen. Good luck on your jouney.
  24. I was on full liquids the week after surgery, then mushies for a week and then solid food. Seems like some dr's progress patients more quickly than others. Since your so hungry, I would call the office and see if you can progress sooner. Hang in there, it gets lots better. Good luck in your journey.
