8 Days post op and question?

Hi Im 8 days post op and doing fabulously. I feel awesome and and ready to work at this and get this weight off. My Dr. does not do a fill until the 4th week post op as I have no fluid in my band at all. I went for my week post op appt. today and he told me that I may not lose any more weight until I have a fill? I was like whhhhaatttt?? Im curious to know if this is always the case and why? And why he said this...I am staying low card high protein and starting on mushies.

Yes it is so annoying! I get my first fill next Wednesday and right now I can eat too much. I have had to fight to lose every ounce at this point because the band isnt giving me much restriction.

I am going on 4 weeks post op and have moved up to 4tbsp. of lean protien per meal and protien shakes in between, i am guessing he said that because he does not want you to become discouraged. i weigh one time a week as to not get discouraged and i have been loosing weight. so don't worry, it is a marathon not a sprint right? your doin' good, just stay on your plan. keep us posted!!

Before my surgery, my doctor told me there was a possibility of not losing weight for the first month. When I went for my post-op check-up and transition nutrition class 10 days post-op, having lost 9 pounds, I was told by my PA that I might not lose any more weight and possibly gain weight by the time I have my first fill at 4-1/2 weeks. This information is well documented. From what I read, the first fill recommendation from Allergan (Lap-Band maker) is something like 4-6 weeks post-op. My doctor sticks to that schedule, even though many doctors do not; not surprising considering he is one of the doctors who teaches other doctors to implant the Lap-Band.

Hang in there, you can do it. I'm at 3-1/2 weeks and I have some really hungry days. I lost 12 pounds the first 13 days while on the Protein drink diet. I lost 0.6 pounds the next 13 days while on soft solids.

I lost a really good amount before I had my first fill of 1cc a week ago. You should be fine if you watch what you eat and do your exercising. Good luck to you.

That's hogwash... Everybody is different. I'm 11 weeks out, banded 7/29, have yet to have a fill and I'm down 53 pounds.

I think telling you you may not loose anymore weight was just a warning. If you eat right and excersise you will surely loose weight. Best wishes on your jouney!
