  1. I was very excited to get my first fill. However, it didn't provide any restriction. Just be aware it may take several fills. Just want you to be prepared for that. Good luck in your journey!
  2. Great job! Excersie makes all the difference doesn't it. You will be at goal before you know it. Keep up the good work!
  3. I haven't been shy about telling people I had wls. It is not anything to be ashamed of in my opinion. As far as your weight loss- you are doing great! I am wondering how often you weigh yourself. Daily flucuations will drive you crazy. When I was loosing I weighed in once a week and recorded it. I did cheat a few times and got on the scale more often. Now that I am maintaining, I weigh myself everyday.
  4. Hang in there- it will get better. It took me 3 fills to have any kind of restriction. Just know it will happen, keep getting your fills and try to be patient. As far as surviving "bandster hell" I would focus on eating the right foods. The portions may be larger than when you have restriction. Also, if you haven't already, start excersising. It has been the key to success for me. Start out slow and gradually increase the intensity/duration. Good luck!
  5. I agree with all of the above, I would increase to 1200 cals and also increase the intensity of your workouts. That worked for me at every stall. Good luck!
  6. I second Betsy's plug for excersise. It's just too good a thing not to do it. It's tough to get started, but it becomes second nature. It becomes just part of your day. Start out slow and gradually increase the intensity and/or duration. When I stalled, I increased the speed on the treadmill and the scale started moving again. I lost 107 pounds in about 10 months. You can do it!
  7. Yes, you could have swelling for sure. It can take overnight for that to happen. I have been fine to eat the night of a fill (although I wasn't suppossed to) and had great difficulty in the morning. I wouldn't rush into an unfill- stick to liquids for a few days and see if things settle down. By liquids I am including protien shakes. If you can't keep them down I would go in Monday for sure. Hope you feel better soon.
  8. Actually oatmeal is a carb. so that wasn't the problem. I too don't stay full as long as I'd like. I eat 5-6 times a day. 3 meals and 2-3 snacks. Hopefully with more fills you will stay full longer. It took me 3 fills to feel any restriction.
  9. If your not already, excersise will help you tremendously in reaching your goal. It's made all the difference for me. Start out slow and gradually increase the intensity and/or duration. Best wishes!
  10. My hair started thinning so I went to the dermatologist. He reassured me I wouldn't go bald. He said it was probably from the rapid weightloss. That or my thyroid, which checked out fine. I am noticing a bit less hair in the shower drain so hopefully it's tapering off.
  11. My nut. said no drinking 15 minutes before or after eating. Less than most, but it's been working for me. I actually feel more satisfied once I start drinking- go figure.
  12. You sound ready to get on the fast track to weight loss. Good for you. If your not already, I would start an excersise program. It has made all the difference for me. Start off slow and gradually increase the intensity and/or duration. I agree with the above advice to track what you eat. I did it for the first 4 months or so. Then it became second nature and I stopped writing it down.
  13. I faintd once due to very low blood surgar. Also low blood pressure could be the cause. That's good your getting checked out thoroughly. Feel better!
  14. I have exactly the same experience with burping. As far as a slipped band, you all of sudden wouldn't be able to keep anything down, not even water. It's more the vomiting with heaves and all that that cause a slip. Like if you get the flu.
  15. Good for you changing your doctor. I hope you are more satisfied with your choice.
  16. I have been very successful with the lapband- lost 107 pounds in about 10 months, and reached goal. However, there have been times I wished I had bypass- all that waiting for restriction, needing to go in for unfills when I was too tight. Overall though, lapband is much less risky and you don't have the absorbtion problems that gastric bypass can cause. It is also a much safer surgery. Best of luck in your decision. Either way- you will do great!
  17. My guess is that you have some delayed swelling from the surgery. However, I would call your doc. and let them know what's going on. They certainly know more than me. Hope you feel better soon.
  18. I was told 60 grams of protien a day.
  19. You are doing great! 30 pounds is awsome. It's really hard when you don't have restriction, just know it will come. During my first couple months post-op I thought the band was never going to work. But alas after 3 fills it did. Keep up the good work!
  20. I do cardio on the treadmill about 5 days a week and work out with a trainer 3 days a week. Excersise has been key to my weight loss. I lost 107 pounds in about 10 months. That never would have happened without working out. You can do it. Just start out slow and gradually increase the intensity.
  21. My advice is to not buy the sweets at all, even if they are on the healthy side. If you live with people who want them, have a talk with them and elicit their support. Explain it's just too tempting to have the treats in the house. Keep up the counseling and excersise, they are both very important. Good luck!
  22. I would suggest you reduce your carb. intake, seems to be on the high side. Even things like apple sauce are pretty high in carbs. Fruit is a natural sugar, but still a sugar. You would be better off eating an apple because you would get some fiber. Best wishes!
  23. Wow- that's pretty much a pound a day! That's awsome. However, expect it to slow down, and don't get discouraged.
  24. I have lost 117 pounds in 10 months- at my goal. Excersise has been key- when I stalled, I increased the intensity of the excersise and the scale started to move again. I also ate very low fat and low carb. Lot's of lean protien. You can do it!
  25. I too am so glad I got the band. I reached my goal in 10 months. I spend a little more time hungry or too tight but it's all been worth it.
