  1. It's been a week since your fill- so swelling should have gone down by now. I hope you are getting lots of fluids in. If your vomiting, you may want to go on liquids (protien shakes) for a few days and see if things settle down. Hope you feel better soon.
  2. Remember, it's not just the calories you burn during the workout. Cardio increases your metabolism across the day. I do 40 minutes on the treadmill about 5 days a week. I walk for 2 minutes, jog for 3. I also do weights with a trainer 3 times a week. I highly reccomend it if you can afford it. I think it's money well spent. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn across the day.
  3. Some Ideas: Boca burgers Perfect portion perdue chicken (it's marinaided) Hormel chili (although it has 20 carbs) Lean pork loin- comes in different flavored marinaids) Fish For Snacks almonds- 1/4 cup low fat cheese sticks low fat cottage cheese berries or other fruit if you are not doing an extremely low carb eating plan Hope this helps
  4. That is great! Sounds like you know exactly what to do and are ready to start doing it. You can loose that last 40 pounds! Best wishes!
  5. You probably have some swelling due to the fill. That takes a few days to a week to settle down. If your keeping down liquid protien and water, I would wait it out a few days. Of course if your really miserable you might want to go in right away. Hope you feel better soon.
  6. I totally agree with above posts about excersise. It has been essential to my weight loss. It's tough to get started, but it will become second nature before you know it. It will be a part of your daily routine. If you can afford it, I highly reccomend a personal trainer for weight lifting. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn all day long. As far as food choices, I do low carb and low fat. Lots of lean protien and veggies. Good luck! You can do it!
  7. Awsome job! I recently hit my goal and know how exciting it is. Keep up the hard work so you maintain.
  8. The mass your feeling is probably your port. Maybe your incisions hurt more because you are off the pain meds. I would put a call in to your doc. and just let them know what's going on. Congrats on your surgery.
  9. That's good you are aware of the weight gain and want to do something about it. Sounds like you need to go back to basics when it comes to food choices. What did you eat before when you where loosing? I would go back to those foods. Of course, keep up the cycling! You can correct this minor bump in the road.
  10. If your band slips, you all of a sudden can't keep anything down. If it happens, you need a surgery to correct it. As far as moving to mushies, I wouldn't think one day would make much of a difference. Good luck!
  11. Since you can keep food down, you are probably fine. However, since your worried I would put a call into the doctor.
  12. I count net carbs. While I was loosing I kept it around 25. Now that I am maintaining, I am just focusing on getting good carbs (whole wheat bread and pasta, beans, yougurt et..) No refined carbs (white flour, white sugar)
  13. Another thing to try is watering down the protien shake. That has helped me when I have had swelling after a fill.
  14. I too am on the fence about a 14 year old having WLS. I think it depends on the child. I also think often, there are others in the family who are obese. I think it should become a family affair to get healthy. The shopper needs to buy healthy foods and prepare them in a healthy way. I don't have an answer for teens who sneak food. It all becomes a very touchy subject. A parent doesn't want to make a child feel worse about their weight problem, but wants to help in any way possible. I have had a weight problem all my life and hate to see children go through that. Oh and I missed the first episode of biggest looser. I was out of town and my tivo taped over it- I forgot to put it on the do not delete mode. Oh well- there is the rest of the season.
  15. It was about 4 months post op for me. I was so excited! I had lost about 40 pounds and started working out. My blood pressure has been fine since.
  16. I have been very succesful with the band, about 104 pounds in 10 months. I did go through what many do, being to loose and hungry sometimes and to tight and getting sick other times. There have been times I wish I had gastric bypass but that comes with it's own complications. Long story short, yes I am glad I have the band.
  17. You are doing great! I am glad you took your doc.s advice. I have found lowcarb is very important for weight loss. Keep up the good work!
  18. I agree with the above post- excersise really does do wonders. If your not already doing it I highly reccomend you start.
  19. That's awsome! I know how excited I was to get to the 100 pound mark, it brought me pretty much at goal too.
  20. Yes, it's perfectly normal not to feel restriction after the first fill. It took me 3 fills to get restriction.
  21. Glad you are feeling better. Good luck on your journey!
  22. That is great! I just gave 4 bags of clothes to my sister. We went shopping for some new ones. I was excited to fit into some petite 6's.
  23. Since it sounds like you have good restriciton- you say your not hungry I would try eating some more calorie dense food. You may want to have say chicken sausage instead of turkey or salmon is pretty calorie dense- meats with a higher fat content. That being said, I tend to agree with Betsy that it is kind of myth you go into starvation mode. Good luck!
  24. That is great you are going to excersise. It has been the key to my succes. When I have stalled, I uped the intensity of the workout and started loosing again. I am at goal- lost 103 pounds in 10 months. You can do it!
  25. I got restricion on my third fill, I think it brought me up to 4cc. It took about 3 months.
