Should I have fluid removed???

I had my third fill on 09/21/2010 which places me at 4.8cc's in a 10cc band. I have been having a REALLY hard time eating since then. After a couple of bites I am done, I am full and I am near the overfull point. Anything that has to be chewed, is not going down very easily, I have to drink in small sips to get liquids down. A friend of mine told me to try to wait for a week or two before going back in for an unfill.

Is this normal when you reach restriction? All of the things that I was told prior to surgery are coming to mind now of chew, chew, chew, drink in small sips, wait a minute between each bite. I am doing all of this. My main concern is that I am not getting enough calories and protien in.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It's been a week since your fill- so swelling should have gone down by now. I hope you are getting lots of fluids in. If your vomiting, you may want to go on liquids (protien shakes) for a few days and see if things settle down. Hope you feel better soon.

I would try doing mushies for a couple days because you may have created some swelling with the difficulty you're having in eating. Then if you're still having problems with solids (chicken and ground beef are usually difficult for many people), I'd see about an unfill.

The fact that you're having difficulty with liquids makes me think you're still swollen or are too full.

.

I agree with Elfie---give it a rest before making decision.

I had my third fill an got .6 cc's and felt great. two days later my hubby had emergency surgery and my monthly visitor came all on the same day. let me tell you i was TIGHT! i couldn't get anything down that had to be chewed. I went on clear liquids for three days to help with any swelling. on the third day i could not even get water down.i went in for an unfill an what he did is make me drink some water (it would just sit right behind my sternum) and he removed fluid until i could feel it pass....which was .3 cc's....now i feel great!!

my doctors rule of thumb is is you can get fluids down ok, then don't worry about eating for a few days to a week....but if you start having issues with your water intake you are headed for a bad place.

i agree with the above posters, give it a few days on just liquids...

hope you get to feeling better!
