  1. I am very happy to hear from you, again. The beginning of the school year is always very busy. Sometimes you just have to walk away from your desk and say it's me time for 15 minutes.

Have a great Labor Day weekend and relax with your wonderful husband.

  2. You look amazing with your wonderful smile and great looking husband. Knowing that it took you 2 years to get to goal just made my day. Thank you. I have been around the same weight for 3-6 months (lost count) and feel like a failure. Now I don't. I am 13 months banded and thought it would take 1 1/2-2 years so I guess that is right.

Keep in touch with us we all need encouraging words.

  3. I eat out all the time and eat from the kid's menu a lot. I also will order a small salad and for $4-$7. extra add a protein, like chicken, shrimp or salmon. I do that one a real lot and love it.

So far no has said anything to me for eating small portions, which I like.

  4. I enjoyed reading your story. When I met with my original surgeon, long story, I said I felt like a failure because I needed the Band! She said I was not a failure but I was helping myself with a tool. She was right. I love my tool. I love no more 'fat stores'. I can fit into booths in restaurants and no longer have to ask for table and chairs. I can keep up with my grandsons. Don't think that getting the band means you are a failure and need help. We all need help everyday. In other ways.

By the way, did you ever model?

good luck with your choice. Maybe go to the support meetings with your husband. I go every month and most of the time my husband comes with me for support.

  5. Kids tell the truth. Sometimes not nice things. My son became a wonderful father to a 6 1/2 year son (now 13 1/2) and being that my son is obese, Matt was taught at 6, never say anyone is fat, large etc.

That young lady was taught correctly, Princesses come in all shapes and sizes, it's the dress that makes them stand out.

  6. Sorry to hear about your friend's fire. As for your co-workers, they are co-workers, not friends. People are with their co-workers more than anyone else in their life yet they don't understand the bonding sometimes. Very sad for them.

Meanwhile, raising money for the fire victim was great and must have made you feel wonderful. NSV!

  7. Sorry about your hair loss. I take Biotin 5mg every day. It helps with hair and nails. I get mine from Bariatric Advantage. They are capsules but being that they make all their products for WLS they go down very well. I buy about 5-6 different vitamins and minerals from them.

I did have a small section of hair thinning. I didn't know until my husband said something while I was getting a haircut. My stylist had class and wasn't telling me.

  8. I don't understand 2 bandages. My doctor has me lay down and raise my legs and the port like pops and then he goes in once.

If I gave up up carbs, I would lose more weight but when I do without I eat more of those items. But everyone has to listen to their own doctor and dietitian.

Any loss is better than a gain. Congratulations!!!

  9. Congratulations on getting the band and starting a new journey. Are you getting enough protein in at every meal? Protein makes you full longer. I am far from perfect and never thought of eating anything not on my post op list because I was afraid I would do damage. Today is a new day, forget yesterday.

Maybe Monday call your dietitian and ask for help.

  10. The house looks amazing. Enjoy it. My cousin was a nurse at a hospital and then went to an allergy doctor's office. She worked M-F, no nights and had holidays off. She is retired now but loved less stress at an office. Good luck finding a new job.

  11. I will miss you but totally understand where you are coming from. I have noticed that in the past 6 months a lot of the regulars are missing. I enjoyed them and you. This site has taught me a lot and it is the best place to learn from the masters. There are always the people who challenge everything in life including the band. How far can I stretch it. They never should have gotten the band to begin with.

Be well and please pop in time to time.

    Thank you.

    Arlene

  12. Hi Donna and welcome. I will be 63 in October and today is my one year. Best thing I ever ever did. You can read my blog right below yours and it sort of tells my journey.

People complain about the pre-op diet being liquids and post-op liquids. Well we have eaten enough food (we wouldn't be here if we were perfect) to get us by. I never once thought of cheating because I was too afraid of what could happen to me. I never did any research either. I found this site after the band. I am not good with computers so I never went looking for the unknowns and I am fine with that.

I had many things wrong with me, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, RLS, hernia, stomach in wrong place. Now I only take recommended vitamins and minerals everyday.
