  1. Started by Crishell,

Hey everybody. Just thought I would share this. I had been rather bummed because I didn't meet my weight goal of 199 for my 40th birthday on August 14. I have been experiencing an extended plateau that is driving me crazy. I cannot get the scale to move lower than 225. I have been losing inches but the scale refuses to move. While I am still grateful for what I have accomplished,l the lack of scale movement downward (been the same not gained) has kept me very stressed out and miserable a great deal. I have tried exercising more/ less, eating more/less, more Protein, less carbs, more fluids. I feel I have evaluated my situation every way possible. So, to make a long story …

Hello everyone, I am new to this site so let me introduce myself. My name is Ashleigh, I got my surgery on 4/2/08. I have neen doing well so far. I am kind of stuck in a rut this past 5 weeks or so going back and forth 7 pounds or so, and lost nothing. My question is what is everyones diet like? Do you truely eat 1/4 cup (2 oz) of food for a meal? I can eat about twice that, two times a day. Is it that I am just not filled enough or have I streched my pouch? or have a slipped band! How do you know, are there any ways to tell other than a x ray? I am always paranoid about the potential problems. I worry if the band is too tight I will get sick and get nothing down. I know …

Hello everyone I am new to the site, and I am on my journey to a new life. Thats what it is right? It would be so much easier if I would have taken care of myself a long time ago. I haven't always been this heavy, I played sports in high school, love them, still do, just can't do much with all this weight I have gain in the last 17 years! WOW, I have been out of school for a while, it kind of sneaks up on you, kind of like all the weight!!! I am scheduled for my 1st visit and seminar on 9-10-08, and I know that I have to do the 6 month visits. So I will not be getting banded until March or later! I wish it was now!!

Hi all, Just wanted to say hi. I just joined. I was banded on Aug. 13, and I feel great. I have lost 11 pounds since starting at the Northwest Weightloss Clinic in Everett, WA. That includes my pre-op weightloss. I am awaiting my first fill on Sept 10, which I need to reschedule because of going back to work. I am hoping to get it done earlier. I am hungry, and feel like I'm eating to much right now. But I am maintaining my weight loss, so I guess that's not that bad. At least I haven't gained. But I am feeling hunger alot more than I thought I would. OK-well, hello and I look forward to meeting new people!! Laurie

I finally have my first appointment scheduled for October 14. The doctor in my area is obviously very booked up and it has taken several months for them to schedule me. My primary care physician has been working with me for a year or more to get things done that my insurance requires, so hopefully the process will be smooth. I know I have a lot to learn and absorb. I am currently 320 lbs, 53 years old and I am diabetic, have sleep apnea and take medication for blood pressure and cholesterol. I just want to get my life back and stop being a slave to my weight and medication!:w00t:

Hi, I was banded on 16 Aug. I lost 6 pounds before surgery and haven't had the weight loss that I thought I would have since surgery. Realizing it took awhile to put the weight on, I was still hoping for faster results. Can anyone tell me what the average weight loss per week is after being banded? I had planned on losing about 20 lbs per month; is that unreasonable? thanks for the help...pls

Okay Ladies: I'm looking for a new Lap Band surgeon, here in California. My PCP does not have any recommendations for me, because she does not believe in WLS. I also might consider going to Atlanta, because I have lived there and I have a brother I can stay with. That would not be too much out of my comfort zone. I would love to get as much information about other doctors as possible, because I really want to get the Band sooner than later. I want to stay focused.:cool2:

:thumbup:Hi all, I had a new band inserted yesterday! I used to have a Lap Band and the port was defective. I paid over $30,000. dollars for fills and preps etc. I only lost 50 pounds! When the doctor told me the port was defective and I am one-hundred pounds from goal, I knew I had to get another band. The doctor suggested I get a realize band because it is thicker and he stated I would lose weight faster. The first generation Lap Band only lasted me 2 years and 4 months. Has anyone out there experienced this scenario and if so did you get reimbursed from the Lap Band makers? Please share your stories, thank you.
