Happyme...I feel your pain. My husband has said the same thing. It has to get better! I don't want this to be for nothing. I have lost 20 pounds and I was banded Dec 3rd. I know thats not horrible but it has taken forever for the last 5 pounds. I have had one fill and get another on Feb 5th. I had restriction for about 10 days after my first fill then it went away....

I am totally with you! You are not alone. I have had one fill that was 2.2 cc's in a 10 cc band and I am really not noticing too much restriction. I find my clothes are continuing to be looser, but my scale doesn't seem to be moving too much. I am only going to weigh myself every two weeks or so, to see if that helps my brain. If I get on the scale every day hoping to see it going down, I think I will get frustrated. I will be happy when it gets to the point of the 1-3 pounds per week. I would be happy with that. If I wanted it off faster, I keep telling myself, I should have gone for the gastric bypass. But that was too scary of an option for me. I am barely over the month mark, so I need to be patient. Not my strong suit!

I keep thinking about my band too and wondering if I should've done the bypass. It scared me, but now I have so much follow up work/care with the band that I'm not sure what's better. Oh well...it's done now so I'll make the best of it right!

funny story................

Before my surgery I took some "before" pics of myself in my sports bra and underwear (I didn't have a bikini!). Not the prettiest sight. Unfortunately I haven't had time to print one out and delete them off my computer.

So....the other day I hear my 7 year old twin daughers and their friend trying to repress laughs. When I went to see what's so funny, there my pictures are on a screen saver slideshow on my computer!!!!

How embarrasing!!!

That is too funny! I wouldn't be too embarassed about it, before pictures are necessary so we can see the progress that we don't see when looking in the mirror everyday!

OMG, that is too funny! I took before pictures too, but made sure to upload mine to my photobucket and erase them off my camera in case I happen to lose the camera! Now if only I can find the guts to publish them on here!

The fill was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I had myself all worked up over it. I got 5cc today and was able to drink the Water they gave me before I left. I had some water since then and it must have been too much because it came right back up. I guess, I'm gonna have to learn how much I can eat/drink all over again. I'm on liquids for the rest of today, but can start back with regular stuff gradually tomorrow. I hope everything went ok for you!!! Let me know.

But just think about the, "WOW - just look at mom now!" you will be getting.

Hang in there with the W/L - it will happen. Hey, I win the prize for the slowest post-surgery weight loss.

My first fill went fine too - doctor just patted my tummy a few times to find the port and then just a tiny pick - that was all I felt. I got 3cc. Then a floroscope and drinking that barium stuff - this is what I was dreading, but it was fine. I thought I would have to drink a big glass of gritty barium, but it was only one small mouthful, about the consistency of Milk of Magnesia, which I saw go straight down into my big stomach and the nurse said that was perfect. I sat and drunk a full bottle of with no problem and then went shopping to the fabric store next to the Doctor's office - how nice of him to move into that location!

I have to be on a liquid diet for 3 days and soft food diet for 3 days after that.

So glad your fill went well.

Are you able to feel your own port? I can't seem to feel mine.

I have minimal pain around the port, and am still nervous about bending too much since I feel it more then.

I can also feel my port.

had my lad done 12-3-09 had my first fill on 1-16 but not on the first try, after being stuck 6 times, and could not find the middle of my port I was done, and told him to stop.

Two days later I went to the hospital to have it done under x-ray, then after 3 more times he got it in.

Don't know if I want to do this again, but have a date of 2-17 for my 2 fill, hope this one goes in easy for him.

The Doc. is new at this, and I an his first, so I am his Ginny Pig you can say.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
