Fill questions - help?

Recommended Posts

1. On a daily basis, I can go from having like zero restriction to the next day having too much restriction, is that normal? For instance, I hadn't lost in about three weeks and got to the point where I really could eat anything, and much more than the 4oz so I made a fill appt., but then this week, I have been very tight.... I feel stupid going in tomorrow for a fill, when right now, I have restriction - but for the past three weeks I've had zero.

2. Last fill I had, the doctor had trouble putting Fluid in... anyone else experienced that?

3. I felt lightheaded (don't laugh) last time holding the needle and havin him poke and prod and move it around to find the right spot... Should I let him know prior this time?

My Dr had a hard time finding the port also. He said after some of the scar tissue goes down it should get easier.

I get my fills under fluoroscopy and they get it on the first try. Fluroscopy also lets them view the band and the barium passing through so they can tell if there are any problems.

1 year out -- 9.1 in my 10cc band -- I am curious if anyone has had their band come unlatched? I don't seem to get any restriction like everyone else. I go for an upper gi tomorrow and am worried. i don't have problems eating anything breads, meats, whatever...

I too am curious about the changing restriction. I have been too tight since my first fill (odd I know), but some days I can eat some things and somedays I can't eat the same thing I did the day before. It is very frustrating and I am afraid I will hurt my band with all this PBing. I have an appointment to see my surgeon, but not till September 2. Any advice would be appreciated. =)

I also have different levels of restriction depending on the day... but usually for only about a week after my fill. My NP said that it's the saline "settling" into the band, and my stomach getting used to the restriction. She said that it could take up to 2 weeks for everything to settle down and be normal after a fill.

If you're experiencing problems outside of this timeframe, I would certainly go see your doctor to talk about it.

Phlphan -- I would keep your appointment, even if you don't get a fill, just so you can air your concerns, and see what they say.

Best of luck to you all!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
