Kathy, you look cute anyways. Glad you are doing so well. I am doing much better. Had a 5 lbs weight gain and that really motivated me to not feel sorry for myself. Going back to the gym has been a HUGE motivator for me. I am looking forward to my fill on July 17th. I also start with a personal trainer on Wed. next week. So far I'm down around 12 lbs but I see the scale moving South again with the exercise jump start.

MY BMI IS 29.8.

I'm not Obese?! OMG! I'm not Obese! :faint:

Well, now. Yay me. :huggie: :D:P

I just can't believe it. I knew it was coming, but when it popped up on the little calculator? Wow. I'm just shaking my head, I guess I'll go tell hubby and call my mom and my sister? Wow.

Don't get too antsy, I was 179.8 this morning LOL!

I discovered www.sparkpeople.com and man was I eating some FAT in my diet! Once I began logging my food and getting some instant feedback on what I was shoveling down the ole gullet, I made some changes. Mainly, Fat Free dressings and less chips and crackers and cheese. I highly recommend it. I was *this* close to ordering the FitDay for home when Cheri mentioned Sparkpeople and it's all I need. Much easier to enter the foods I eat, most are on the list. And now that I have generated a good list of Favorites, it's pretty quick to enter my foods.

Anyhow, I think it's got me on the right track. I told it I wanted to be 145 by Dec 31st this year and it said I need to eat 1200-1550 calories a day and gave me ranges for fat, protien and carbs...as long as I exercise I "should?" get there, right? We'll see.

Wow, I haven't checked in here in a while!

here's a clothes NSV. Since I'm freezing cold all the time, I'm now keen on long-sleeved shirts. Go figure. So I go to Kohl's and try on the XL (in the regular Women's sections, not the Plus sized 1X, 2X or 3X I used to buy) and the XL is too big! WOW! So I now have 5 long-sleeved cotton stretch t-shirts in pretty fall colors in Large. Plain ole Large.

My numbers game isn't going very well. I'm sooo stuck on actual weight loss, even inches aren't budging much. I'm out of the Curves habit, and recovering from the Halloween candy habit. That one got me pretty good for a few weeks. :)

I thought I could finish this journey without another fill. I so want to avoid the fill/unfill game, but I give up. I have a consult Wed with a local band doc. A REAL band doctor. I'll get a flouro fill and discuss an endoscope with him. I'm tired of wondering if something is wrong with my little band friend. I'm 18+ months out, and haven't done a thing with my band in 13 months. No fills, nada. Time for a check up. I was hoping I'd be in MX with my sister getting her band, but she's not ready to fork over the cash just yet, so I'll not wait for her any longer. I want to see my band. I'll start with a flouro fill and go from there.

Hi Kathy, Great to see you again on the boards. I'm down about 25 lbs since June 6th. I am concentrating on the NSV and the other day I finally go into a size 22 jean. I was thrilled. Best of luck to our slow losers. We have to keep the faith.

Its so encouraging be able to share with other folks having the same slow loser issues.

I have lost all my wt mostly as a result of the post op and post fill liquid diet regimen. I have not lost any weight again in past 3 weeks.

Staying on diet has been terribly hard.

good luck to everyone.

Missy

I started in a XXXL dress shirt for work....and that was sometimes snug depending on the cut and I must confess I owned a few XXXXLs for those tough days. :peep:

I ordered two XL dress shirts last week to be "prepared" for when I would be able to wear them.

They came in....they fit. I dig it.

:heh:

I dig it, too. Feels great, don't it?! :heh: Well done!

Hey, thanks for the kudos, folks! I have a digital camera on my Christmas Wish List, so I hope to be updating some pics soon. I keep running across old fat pics, I should post them, but not without some newer ones to compare! I'm not at goal, but the difference is amazing. I feel like me again. :peep:

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
