Hi Sal-

I used Dr. Reiner who operates out of Syosset. I was pleased with him, but do not know much about the other docs. Do some research. Everyone seems to be pleased with Dr. Geiss. I have Oxford insurance and I had a copayment of $500 for the surgery.

Count me in as another Lawngilander....ha ha

I was banded on May 4th by Dr. Ahmad.

Today I go in for my second fill. I've lost 30 lbs so far but have been sorta "stuck" losing and gaining the same pound for almost two weeks now! ARGH!!

I'll talk to "the girls" in the office - they're always so nice and so helpful.... maybe they'll have some ideas.

But, hey... if any of YOU have some ideas or advice... I'll take it!

I'm curious to know how many of you all go to support groups. They always seem to fall on days that I can't go, so I haven't been since about two weeks after my surgery.

Just curious.

Sal

I used him and I have nothing but good things to say. I've heard good things about other Dr.'s as well, but Dr. Geiss has done about 3000 of these surgeries which is more than anyone else in the north east. The bariatric department is a huge part of the hospital there so everyone knows what they're doing in regards to this procedure when you go in for your surgery. I would highly reccomend him.

For all that used Dr. Geiss,

How long after the pre-op exams did you all wait to get a surgery date?????

Well I spoke to Liz from the office and she assured me that all the pre-op stuff was done and in their hands (Phsy. evaluation report, nutritional consult, deit history etc.. all they give you to complete) once they have all those reports they give your chart to the person in charged of scheduling the surgeries and that took about a week and a half (make sure they have the right contact infor for you). When she called she gave me the date (the time you get the day be4 surgery) and sent out a letter with your date to get the presurgical testing (which is about a week b4 proceedure) and with the proceedure date and post-op appt date. Plus she will send you a medical clereance form that your primary doctor will need to fill out a week before surgery once you get your presurgical tests.

Then you will speak to Lisa and she will get your approval from your insurance.

=0) hope this helps. I know the feeling, anxious to get the date so you can plan around it =0)

Overall it is a GREAT GREAT GREAT hospital, EVERYONE will treat you with care and Dr.Geiss is amazing.

!!

I had my proceedure done a week ago, lost 13 lbs. and I feel just great.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
