Differences in Scales

Recommended Posts

I saw my dietician, my surgeon, and pulmonary all on the same day. They all weighed me in and they all came up with different numbers. They were not off too much but it ranged from 249-252 and then my home scale said 249, so how do I know what the real weight is lol. Is anyone else having this experience?

Hi Breanne,

I am one week post op, and I have consistently seen a difference between my home scale and my dr scale. It is a little unnerving, but I just decided to only officially record my weight once a week, and to always go by home scale (which is the one that shows my weight being higher). I figure this will help me not get too scale obsessed--plus, I'll never feel bummed out when I have to weigh in at the doctor's office, since I always weigh less on his scale ;-)

There are definitely differences between scales... and remember: going to the bathroom, and having that extra glass of Water can make a difference of at least a pound sometimes... Or, if you ate salty food, you could retain some water throughout the day. Go with YOUR scale at home cause that will be the most consistent. I weigh myself after my potty in the AM, with no clothes on consistently to get a pretty accurate representation... it works for me!!!

Yes, bathroom scales vary. My old Jenny Craig scale was not showing a weight loss for over a week but the one at my gym showed 2.5 lbs. I then bought a new digital one for home. I can get on and off it and back on and change my weight by .5 lbs! So who knows what is the exact weight!?! As long as it is going down and my clothes are loose I knew I am losing.

I am having same issue with my scale. My scale weighs me 10 pounds less then my sisters, but my mother weighs the same on both scales. I dont understand it. I go to the doctors tomorrow for my weigh in, I will see what his scale says.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
